Domain 1 Chapter 1: What is Six Sigma?

  • Distinguish data-driven decision making from intuition/experience-based decision making
  • Define Six Sigma (6σ) as both a process-improvement methodology and a statistical concept (3.4 defects per million opportunities)
  • Calculate sigma level / process yield from number of opportunities and defects
  • Apply common Six Sigma principles: customer focus, value streams, process thinking
  • Identify common challenges/obstacles to Six Sigma implementation

Domain 2 Chapter 2: Six Sigma History and Application

  • Trace the development of Statistical Process Control (Shewhart/Deming roots)
  • Explain Toyota's contribution to continuous process improvement and Lean
