- Explain system and network architecture concepts in security operations (architecture components, identity, logging: ingestion, time sync, retention, integrity)
- Analyze indicators of potential malicious activity across network, endpoint, cloud, and identity layers
- Use tools to determine malicious activity (SIEM query writing, EDR/XDR, packet analysis with Wireshark/tcpdump/Suricata/Zeek, artifact analysis with YARA/CyberChef/VirusTotal)
- Explain threat intelligence and threat-hunting concepts, frameworks, and data sources
- Describe efficiency and process improvement in security operations (automation, workflows)
- Summarize concepts related to the use of AI in security operations (use cases, risks such as hallucination/data exposure/prompt injection, and governance)
Domain 2 Vulnerability Management (26%)
- Implement the appropriate vulnerability scanning method (credentialed/non-credentialed, agent-based/agentless, asset inventory and scan planning)
- Analyze output from vulnerability assessment tools (deduplication, false positive handling)
- Prioritize and mitigate vulnerabilities using risk-based scoring (CVSS in business context) and threat intelligence
- Explain concepts related to control types, risks, and vulnerability management (compliance-driven scanning such as PCI DSS/CIS/ISO 27000, exception tracking, compensating controls)
Domain 3 Incident Response and Management (24%)
- Summarize concepts related to attack methodology frameworks (MITRE ATT&CK, Cyber Kill Chain, Diamond Model)
- Outline the incident response process from preparation through recovery and lessons learned
- Implement incident response techniques including triage, evidence handling and chain of custody, escalation, and root cause analysis
- Align incident response with business continuity and disaster recovery
Domain 4 Reporting and Communication (16%)
