Domain 1 Security Operations (34%)

  • Explain system and network architecture concepts in security operations (architecture components, identity, logging: ingestion, time sync, retention, integrity)
  • Analyze indicators of potential malicious activity across network, endpoint, cloud, and identity layers
  • Use tools to determine malicious activity (SIEM query writing, EDR/XDR, packet analysis with Wireshark/tcpdump/Suricata/Zeek, artifact analysis with YARA/CyberChef/VirusTotal)
  • Explain threat intelligence and threat-hunting concepts, frameworks, and data sources
  • Describe efficiency and process improvement in security operations (automation, workflows)
  • Summarize concepts related to the use of AI in security operations (use cases, risks such as hallucination/data exposure/prompt injection, and governance)

Domain 2 Vulnerability Management (26%)

  • Implement the appropriate vulnerability scanning method (credentialed/non-credentialed, agent-based/agentless, asset inventory and scan planning)
  • Analyze output from vulnerability assessment tools (deduplication, false positive handling)
  • Prioritize and mitigate vulnerabilities using risk-based scoring (CVSS in business context) and threat intelligence
  • Explain concepts related to control types, risks, and vulnerability management (compliance-driven scanning such as PCI DSS/CIS/ISO 27000, exception tracking, compensating controls)

Domain 3 Incident Response and Management (24%)

  • Implement incident response techniques including triage, evidence handling and chain of custody, escalation, and root cause analysis
