NTUC Union Training Assistance Programme

NTUC UTAP Funding & AI Tool Subscription

NTUC members can claim 50% of unfunded course fees — and, from 1 May 2026, 50% of approved AI tool subscriptions such as ChatGPT and Claude — capped at S$250 per year, or S$500 for members aged 40 and above.

The Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP) is an NTUC membership benefit that supports your skills upgrading. Members can claim 50% of the unfunded course fee (the amount payable after government subsidies) for UTAP-supported courses at Tertiary Infotech, capped at S$250 per calendar year — or S$500 for members aged 40 and above.

50% · up to S$500/yr

Claim 50% of unfunded course fees and approved AI tool subscriptions. Annual cap: S$250 (below 40) / S$500 (aged 40 and above), shared across all UTAP claims in the same calendar year.

Worked Example: How Much Can I Claim?

Course fee of S$500

Course fee (after government subsidies)S$500
UTAP claim — 50%− S$250
You effectively payS$250

S$250 fits within both annual caps — a member below 40 uses their full S$250 cap; a member aged 40+ (S$500 cap) still has S$250 of cap left for the year.

AI tool at S$30/month (S$360/year)

Annual subscription feeS$360
UTAP claim — 50%− S$180
You effectively payS$180

Claimable after completing a UTAP-approved AI course, and shares the same annual cap. A member aged 40+ could claim both in one year: S$250 + S$180 = S$430, within the S$500 cap.
