Dr. Alfred Ang designs the APIs behind his own platforms and develops them with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, which makes WSQ Create REST APIs with AI Vibe Coding a course drawn straight from his practice. He is a full-stack AI developer and Agentic AI solution architect whose experience covers frontend and backend systems, API-driven applications and cloud-native platforms on AWS, Kubernetes and DevOps pipelines, with attention to architecture, security, observability and performance. As Managing Director, CIO, CTO and Chief Instructional Designer of Tertiary Infotech Academy Pte Ltd, he leads software delivery as well as training. His credentials include AWS Certified Solutions Architect and Cloud Practitioner, Microsoft Certified AI Engineer Associate (AI-102), CompTIA Security+ and a PhD in Electrical Engineering from NUS. His public GitHub portfolio of more than 300 repositories contains many API projects relevant to this course: an SSG API Portal built with React and Express for exploring SkillsFuture Singapore APIs with mTLS and OAuth authentication; a self-hosted AI-powered learning and training management system with SSG and TPGateway API integration and OTP login; a social media publishing platform where one API call posts video, photos and text to 22 platforms, with SDKs for several languages; a fitness platform with an Express, Prisma and PostgreSQL API; and a certification practice-exam platform built with Next.js, Prisma and PostgreSQL. He also maintains a set of Claude Code skills that includes a secret scanner for safer AI-assisted development.
That experience lets him teach REST API development the way it is now done in practice: with AI generating code quickly and a developer who understands what the code should do. Learners start with REST principles, endpoints and routes, set up an AI-assisted development workflow and generate a first working API from natural-language prompts, then run and inspect its responses. He then moves through data, variables, functions and control structures, request parameters, error handling and input validation, followed by JSON data structures, HTTP methods, status codes, URL structures and integration with web applications and external services. In the database topic participants connect their API to a database, map data between the two and implement create, retrieve, update and delete operations, using AI tools to troubleshoot connection errors. The final topic covers testing with Postman, registration and login authentication, access control and API security, where his Security+ background and his own OAuth and OTP integrations make the risks concrete. He also shows how to document endpoints clearly, manage configuration and secrets outside the code, and prepare an API for deployment, connecting each step to the cloud and DevOps practices he uses. Throughout, he insists that learners read, test and refine AI-generated code rather than trusting it, because reliability comes from review. As an ACTA-certified trainer and DACE-certified curriculum developer, he keeps the course hands-on, so every participant leaves with a working, tested and secured API. Learners who want to see his work for themselves are welcome to browse his GitHub portfolio at https://github.com/alfredang and connect with him on LinkedIn at https://www.linkedin.com/in/angchewhoe/
