What You'll Learn
This course prepares you for the INF-101 certification exam, covering all official exam domains:
Domain 1 Networking Fundamentals
- Define network concepts: Internet, intranet, extranet, client-server, peer-to-peer
- Define transmission types: unicast, multicast, broadcast; network devices including IoT
- Define cloud and virtualization concepts: hypervisors, virtual machines, virtual switches
- Describe remote access methods: VPN, Remote Desktop
Domain 2 Network Infrastructures
- Define LAN characteristics: perimeter networks/DMZ, VLANs, wired vs wireless LAN
- Define WAN characteristics: DSL, site-to-site, cable modem, satellite, cellular (3G/4G/5G)
- Identify wireless networking methods: 802.11, Bluetooth, WPA/WPA2/WEP/802.1X, ad hoc, wireless bridging, interference
- Compare and contrast network topologies and access methods: star, mesh, ring, bus, logical vs physical
Domain 3 Network Hardware
- Describe switch characteristics: managed/unmanaged, VLAN capability, Layer 2/3 switching, MAC table, spanning tree protocol
- Describe router characteristics: static/dynamic routing, routing tables, port forwarding, QoS, network segmentation, convergence
- Describe physical media characteristics: fiber optic, twisted pair (CAT5-CAT7), crossover vs straight-through, EMI/cross-talk susceptibility
Domain 4 Protocols and Services
- Describe the OSI model: layer purpose, associated devices/protocols/applications, MAC address
- Describe the TCP/IP model: layer purpose, associated devices/protocols/applications
- Describe IPv4 concepts: classful vs classless addressing, subnetting, subnet mask, private address classes
- Describe IPv6 concepts: addressing, IPv4-to-IPv6 transition (tunneling, dual stack), link-local vs global, multicast
- Identify well-known ports and protocols: HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, SMTP, IMAP, DNS, RDP, SSH
- Describe name resolution and networking services: DNS/WINS, DNS record types, DHCP, NAT, firewalls
Domain 5 Troubleshooting
- Describe the troubleshooting process in a small-medium business network, including professional conduct
- Use appropriate hardware troubleshooting tools: multimeter, cable tester, toner, TDR/OTDR
- Use Windows software tools: ping, ipconfig, tracert, pathping, nslookup, hostname, netstat, arp
- Use Linux software tools: ping, ip addr, traceroute, tracepath, dig, host, netstat, arp

Truman Ng is a ACTA certified trainer that graduated with Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering from NUS in year 2002. He designed Artificial Intelligence (AI) controller for DC-DC Power Convertor by using Fuzzy Logic and Neural Network (NN) as his university Final Year Project.
Truman has over 15 years project experiences across Database & Web Design, PLC machinery, Data Center Design , Structure Cabling System(SCS) and Enterprise Network Design and Implementation. He used to be a network architect for Hewlett Packard, working with a group of virtual team from the US in handling network design and projects in the States.
Truman is the founder of Nexplore (S) Pte Ltd. He provides solutions of Cloud SaaS, IaaS & PaaS and Software Defined Network (SDN), VoIP and Internet Security. He was engaged by Huawei Global Training Center to provide 60+ consultations and trainings for Internet Service Providers(ISP) from Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Philippines, Australia, Poland, Iran, South Africa, Swaziland, Cote Dlvoire, Syria, Uzbekistan, New Zealand and countries over the world.As achievement, Truman has successfully completed 100+ IT network projects for Bank, Hotel and Factory within 5 years.Truman is certified in PMP, Cisco CCNP, CCIP, CCDP, HP Ase and Huawei HCNP, HCIE R&S, HCNA Cloud, HCNA Security, etc.
