What You'll Learn
This course prepares you for the AZ-900 certification exam, covering all official exam domains and their approximate weightings:
Domain 1 Describe cloud concepts (27.5%)
- Define cloud computing and the shared responsibility model
- Define cloud models (public, private, hybrid) and appropriate use cases
- Describe the consumption-based model and compare cloud pricing models
- Describe serverless computing
- Describe benefits of high availability, scalability, reliability, predictability, security, governance, and manageability in the cloud
- Describe cloud service types: IaaS, PaaS, SaaS and appropriate use cases for each
Domain 2 Describe Azure architecture and services (37.5%)
- Describe core architectural components: regions, region pairs, availability zones, datacenters, resource groups, subscriptions, management groups, and their hierarchy
- Compare compute types (containers, VMs, functions) and VM options incl. Scale Sets, availability sets, Azure Virtual Desktop; describe app hosting options and virtual networking (VNets, subnets, peering, DNS, VPN Gateway, ExpressRoute, public/private endpoints)
- Compare Azure Storage services, storage tiers, redundancy options, storage account types, and file-migration/movement options (AzCopy, Storage Explorer, Azure File Sync, Azure Migrate, Data Box)
- Describe identity/access/security: Microsoft Entra ID and Domain Services, authentication methods (SSO, MFA, passwordless), external identities, Conditional Access, Azure RBAC, Zero Trust, defense-in-depth, and Microsoft Defender for Cloud
Domain 3 Describe Azure management and governance (32.5%)
- Describe cost management: factors affecting Azure costs, the pricing calculator, cost management capabilities, and the purpose of tags
- Describe governance and compliance tools: Microsoft Purview, Azure Policy, and resource locks
- Describe management/deployment tools: Azure portal, Cloud Shell, Azure CLI, Azure PowerShell, Azure Arc, infrastructure as code, Azure Resource Manager and ARM templates
- Describe monitoring tools: Azure Advisor, Azure Service Health, and Azure Monitor (Log Analytics, alerts, Application Insights)
