Free AI Subscription Is Now Live: 6 Months of ChatGPT Plus, Google AI Pro and More

Share

Short version: The free AI subscription is no longer a Budget promise — it went live on 16 September 2026. Singapore Citizens aged 18 and above who attend an eligible AI course starting 1 September 2026 or later can claim six months of a premium AI tool free: ChatGPT Plus, Google AI Pro, Manus AI, Microsoft 365 Personal or Singtel AI Pass. Nine of our WSQ AI courses are on the eligible list — they are marked Free AI Subscription on the course page.

What changed on 16 September

When we wrote about this in August, the scheme had been announced at Budget 2026 but the list of qualifying courses did not exist yet. That gap is now closed. The Skills and Workforce Development Agency (SWDA) — the new agency formed by merging SkillsFuture Singapore and Workforce Singapore — launched the curated catalogue alongside a new centre, Connect by SWDA, at the Lifelong Learning Institute in Paya Lebar.

The catalogue spans more than 200 AI courses from around 30 SWDA-supported training providers. On MySkillsFuture the qualifying ones carry a “Free AI sub” label.

Who qualifies, and what you get

  • Who: Singapore Citizens aged 18 and above.
  • Which courses: any course on the SWDA curated AI list, with a start date of 1 September 2026 or later.
  • What you get: six months of one premium tool — ChatGPT Plus, Google AI Pro, Manus AI, Microsoft 365 Personal, or Singtel AI Pass (which itself bundles several AI tools).
  • How many: one subscription per person, no matter how many eligible courses you complete. Choose the tool you will actually use.
  • How to claim: after you complete the course you are emailed a redemption form. You have 60 days from that email to submit it, and your choice of tool cannot be changed afterwards.

Two details catch people out. The course start date is what matters, not the enrolment date — a course that began in August does not qualify. And because the redemption is once per person, it is worth picking the tool that matches the work you do rather than the best-known brand.

Our eligible courses

These nine WSQ courses qualify. All are SkillsFuture-funded, so the subscription sits on top of the subsidy you already receive — you are not trading one for the other.

  1. WSQ Agentic AI Automation with n8n — Build working automations that chain AI models, apps and APIs together in n8n.
  2. WSQ Business Innovation with Agentic AI and AI Agents — Apply agentic AI to real business problems and redesign how work gets done.
  3. WSQ Build a Human-AI Workforce with Autonomous AI Agents — Design teams where autonomous agents and people each do what they are best at.
  4. WSQ Multi AI Agents Workflow for Content Creation — Orchestrate several specialised agents into one repeatable content pipeline.
  5. WSQ Generative AI for Content Creation — Produce on-brand copy and creative at pace with generative AI tools.
  6. WSQ Generative AI for Script Development and Storytelling — Take an idea to a finished script with AI as a writing partner.
  7. WSQ Creating Engaging Videos with Generative AI (GenAI) — Storyboard, generate and edit short-form video using GenAI toolchains.
  8. WSQ AI Vibe Coding with Python — Build real Python projects with an AI coding assistant beside you.
  9. WSQ Python Fundamental Course for Beginners — Start from zero and get the Python foundation every AI skill builds on.

Not sure where to begin? If you are new to AI, start with Python Fundamentals or Generative AI for Content Creation. If you already use AI daily and want to automate real work, go to Agentic AI Automation with n8n. You can browse everything on our AI courses page.

Why a subscription, and not just more course subsidy

The reasoning behind the scheme is that AI fluency comes from daily use, not from a certificate. A two-day course shows you what the tools can do; the six months afterwards is where it becomes habit. Pairing the two is the point — you learn a technique in class on Tuesday and still have the paid tool to try it on your own work in March.

That is also the practical case for choosing your tool carefully. Six months of the assistant you open every morning is worth considerably more than six months of the one with the better launch video.

Frequently asked questions

Do I still get SkillsFuture funding on the course fee?

Yes. The free AI subscription is separate from course funding. Our WSQ AI courses carry the usual SkillsFuture subsidy, and eligible learners can still use SkillsFuture Credit toward the remaining fee.

Can I claim one subscription per course?

No. Each person can redeem one subscription in total, regardless of how many eligible courses they attend.

My course started in August. Do I qualify?

Unfortunately not — the course must start on or after 1 September 2026. If you are close to that line, check your class start date before assuming either way.

Which tool should I pick?

Pick the one that fits your daily work. ChatGPT Plus and Google AI Pro are strong general assistants; Microsoft 365 Personal makes sense if you live in Word, Excel and Outlook; Manus AI leans agentic; Singtel AI Pass bundles several tools. You cannot change your choice after submitting the form.

What if I am a PR or on an employment pass?

The subscription is for Singapore Citizens aged 18 and above. PRs and pass holders can still take the courses and receive any funding they are otherwise entitled to, but not this particular subscription.

Next step

If AI upskilling has been on your list, the timing will not get better than a funded course plus six months of a premium tool. Browse our WSQ AI courses and look for the Free AI Subscription badge on the course page, or talk to our team if you want help picking the right starting point.
