Redesigned SFEC from 1 December 2026

Companies with at least 3 resident employees receive a fresh $10,000 in an online SFEC wallet that offsets out-of-pocket fees upfront at enrolment, instead of reimbursing them afterwards. SWDA has not yet published the support rates and claim steps; see OurWorkforce or our SFEC guide.

Governance, compliance and the business value of projects sit at the heart of Patrick Oh's consulting work. He is a Singapore Certified Management Consultant, listed by TUV SUD as a certified consultant and working with SG Venture Consulting, and a governance, risk and compliance (GRC) consultant who implements and audits various ISO management systems, including quality and environmental management systems, ISO 14064 greenhouse gas accounting and internal audit. He provides corporate compliance advice and has delivered Singapore Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) consultancy for more than 13 years, and he is CIPM (IAPP) certified. His practice also includes performance management and solutions design consulting, sustainability practice and reporting, and community development. Before he became a management consultant, Patrick spent years as an automation design engineer, giving him first-hand experience of planning and delivering technical work. He writes on management topics from that dual engineering and consulting perspective.

In this course, Patrick supports learners preparing for the PMP certification by connecting the exam's concepts to real organisational practice. The business environment topics, covering strategic alignment, project benefits and value, organisational culture and change, project governance and project compliance, map closely onto his everyday consulting, and he uses them to show why projects must be justified and controlled, not merely scheduled. As the course moves through starting, planning, executing, monitoring and closing a project, he draws on his client-facing work to bring topics such as engaging stakeholders, building shared understanding, empowering the team, managing conflict and communicating with stakeholders to life. His risk and performance management background informs the sessions on budget and risks, evaluating project progress, managing issues and impediments and managing changes, while his audit experience reinforces the importance of knowledge transfer and benefits realisation at closure. Learners gain a solid, practical grasp of the full project lifecycle alongside their exam preparation. He also stresses that sound project management is as much about leadership, communication and judgement as about processes and templates.

Dr. Siva (Prof. Dr. S. Sivanesan) is a Singapore-based governance, risk and compliance specialist whose career of more than 30 years has focused on how organisations are governed, how risks are managed and how controls are made to work. He provides governance and board advisory, enterprise risk management (ERM), internal controls and audit, and sustainability and ESG governance and reporting, and has conducted investigations into irregularities and financial fraud. He also leads business process reengineering, streamlines policies and procedures, and develops crisis management frameworks and plans. He has worked with boards, regulators, financial institutions, the public sector and charities across Asia, and speaks as a keynote speaker on AI and governance, risk culture and the future of internal audit. He holds a Doctorate in Governance, Risks and Sustainability from EIMT, a Masters in Business Systems and a Bachelor of Economics (Accountancy) from Monash University, and a Specialist Diploma in Sustainability Reporting from Temasek Polytechnic. His professional credentials include CIA, CISA and CRISC, and he is ACLP-certified in Singapore and an HRDC-accredited trainer in Malaysia.

This WSQ Project Management Professional course opens with the business environment, covering strategic alignment, project benefits and value, organisational culture and change, project governance and project compliance, and these are areas Dr. Siva knows well from his governance and board advisory work. He helps learners see how projects create value for the organisation and how governance and compliance shape decisions throughout the lifecycle. His ERM experience adds depth to planning budgets and risks, managing issues and impediments, and managing changes, while his work with boards and regulators informs how learners identify and engage stakeholders and communicate with them. When the course turns to leadership, conflict and empowering the team, he draws on his experience of guiding organisations through change and crisis. Learners gain a governance-aware understanding of the full project lifecycle, from starting and planning a project to closing it and realising its benefits, as they prepare for the PMP certification.

Praveen Dayal is a senior IT leader and project management specialist with extensive global experience in banking, finance, manufacturing and technology. He holds multiple international certifications, including PMP, PMI-ACP, ASM, CISA, CISM and CRISC, and his career spans senior leadership roles leading large-scale IT projects, digital transformation programmes and enterprise system implementations across several industries. As an ACLP-certified trainer, he is known for a pragmatic and structured approach that integrates real-world case studies, simulations and agile practice into the classroom.

In WSQ - Project Management Professional, Praveen guides aspiring project managers through the full project lifecycle that underpins PMP preparation. Learners begin with the business environment, covering strategic alignment, benefits and value, organisational culture, governance and compliance, then start a project by engaging stakeholders, forming the team and choosing the right delivery approach. They plan scope, schedule, resources, budget, risk and quality, and practise the leadership side of execution, including empowering the team, coaching and managing conflict. The course finishes with monitoring and control, managing issues and changes, and closing a project with benefits realisation and knowledge transfer. His risk governance and agile expertise help participants connect predictive and adaptive approaches to real projects.

Stephan Tan is an experienced operations and strategy leader with more than two decades of experience in manufacturing, supply chain and process optimisation. As Operations Manager at Symrise Singapore, he leads large-scale projects across global supply chains, driving operational excellence, continuous improvement and cross-functional collaboration. He holds an MBA from Macquarie Graduate School of Management, the Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) credential, and Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) and Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) certifications, and his leadership is grounded in negotiation, strategic planning and agile transformation.

In WSQ - Project Management Professional, Stephan focuses on equipping learners with practical tools to manage scope, cost and stakeholder engagement in complex environments. Participants work through the business environment of projects, including strategic alignment, governance and change management, then start and plan a project covering stakeholders, team formation, scope, schedule, resources, budget, risk and quality. During execution and control, his emphasis on agile leadership, clear communication and performance measurement comes to the fore as learners practise empowering teams, resolving conflict, managing changes and evaluating progress. With a results-oriented style, he helps participants balance strategic alignment with operational precision through to project closure and benefits realisation.

Khoo Yong is a certified adult educator and professional trainer holding the WSQ Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA) from the Institute for Adult Learning. He has extensive experience in business management, leadership development and process improvement, and has facilitated numerous corporate workshops on strategic planning, productivity enhancement and team performance. Alongside this, he has a background in applied analytics, mentoring beginners in data analysis and statistical methods, and he is known for simplifying complex concepts so that learners from diverse backgrounds can apply them with confidence.

In WSQ - Project Management Professional, Khoo Yong brings an educator's perspective to project leadership, helping learners strengthen their organisational, communication and stakeholder management competencies. Participants cover the full lifecycle: aligning projects with strategy, governance and compliance; identifying stakeholders, forming the team and determining the project approach; planning scope, schedule, resources, budget, risk and quality; and executing, monitoring and closing the project. His focus on aligning project outcomes with organisational goals runs throughout, and his interactive discussions and scenario-based exercises give learners practice in leading teams, managing conflict and handling change. Participants leave better prepared both for PMP study and for managing projects effectively at work.
