Design Thinking Basic For Executives

Businesses, social entrepreneurs, and other innovators have used human-centered design for decades to create solutions for many different types of challenges. This workshop will teach you the human-centered design process so you can be more people-centric when problem solving.

This Design Thinking workshop is designed with a group-guided learning structure, which means that you and your team of two to six people will be learning the human centered design process together.

This Design Thinking workshop is an invitation to experiment with the process of design. Let it inspire you to approach challenges differently and experience how human-centered design can add a new perspective and dimension to your work.

Course Details

Module 1: Introduction to Human Centered Design

  • Why design-driven companies have a strategic advantage
  • Customer-centricity vs tech-driven innovation
  • Understand how to create value for our customers
  • How design principles improve success rate of innovation

Module 2: Discovery Phase

  • Discover phase of the human-centered design process. 
  • Design methods that will help you gain a deeper understanding of the needs of various stakeholders in your community or work.


Module 3: Ideate Phase

  • Ideate phase of the human-centered design process. 
  • Tansforms your Discover research into meaningful insights 
  • Generating new ideas via the brainstorming process, which will encourage you to think expansively and without constraints.

Module 4: Prototype Phase

  • Create prototypes that might include: models, mock-ups, diagrams, interactions, and role play. Prototyping is not about getting it right the first time: the best prototypes change significantly over time. As part of the class 4 workshop,
  • Take the best ideas that you brainstormed and make them tangible as quickly as possible. You’ll then test your ideas in the community, getting real feedback and further improving and refining your ideas until you get them right.

Module 5: Moving Forward

  • Distill and communicate your idea to internal or external stakeholders, reflect on what you learned over the seven weeks and how you can take it forward into your daily work.
  • Based upon feedback that your team received during module 4, your team may want to refine your prototypes and make a final prototype presentation to share online should you choose to do so

Design Thinking TrainerYong MuMing has worked with more than 45 schools and private organisations such as BottomSlim, Children Cancer Foundation, YouthCorp, NCS, HuaCheng & more. Before being a trainer, he had the opportunity to experience more than 30 roles and responsibilities in startups from different industries. In his journey as a trainer, he was involved in various workshops such as Design Thinking, Leadership, Learning Style, Team Building, STEM Education, Courage, Intrinsic Motivation, Values and Strengths. His belief in learning started since 2005 when he decided to end his feeling of helplessness in school, relationship and life. He first started his journey by discovering his unique personality, strengths, and values. Then, stretched himself from a shy introverted individual into a speaker, trainer and networker.

In his early learning journey, MuMing is encouraged to received results from what he once deemed was impossible; 3/5 Secondary School Bursary Award, 4/6 Director’s list in Nanyang Polytechnic Space & Interior Design, Best Commander March 2013 of SAF, Special Mentioned from SAF Unit’s Commanding Officer during R&R, and participated with his Unit's Battalion Key Leadership Team on TetraMap Training as a NSF.

He believes that everybody can develop the "Courage Muscles" to explore, experiment and endure to make their life goals a reality. As it doesn't take money to make money, or tactics to build genuine relationships, or magic to live a regret-free life. It takes courage to ask for a better deal, courage to resolve an unspoken hurt, and courage to stay in the game of making our goals a reality.

Design Thinking Trainer

Elton Kuah is business advisor of business advisor of AlphaZetta, a leading global community for independent analytic experts.

His interest lies in entrepreneurship, internet marketing, and youth development. His expertise revolves in the areas of Market Research Insight, Global Market Launch and Connection, Social Media Advertising, And Business Strategy. Elton is also a Professional Fellows under YSEALI, signature program of Barack Obama under economic empowerment.

In Design Thinking, Elton have graduated with HPI School of Design Thinking and conducted challenges for UKM Dentistry, and helped Police for ‘Talk To Us’ Program. He have also participated in challenge for IDEO (a premier design thinking organization in the world) for End Of Life Challenge which attracted more than 5,000 submission of solutions and stories which were done using design thinking methodology.

Elton has shared his thoughts on publications such as Asian Entrepreneur Magazine, Jumpstart Magazine Hong Kong, Social Media Polis USA, Global Yuppie Lifestyle USA, E27 Singapore and Next Up Asia on his perspective and market outlook.

He has co-authored and published a book in Singapore titled ‘Are You Ready To Be Next Entrepreneur’ which the book has been reviewed by world personalities such as Professor Jeffrey Sachs, world-renowned professor of economics and Asian Number 1 motivator ‘Miss Merry Riana’ and other reputable entrepreneurs.

He completed Bachelor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering with Honours from University of Nottingham.

Design Thinking TrainerJim Gan Chiu Liang obtained hiss Master of Technology (M.Tech Knowledge Engineering) from National University of Singapore (NUS) Institute of System Science, He is currently working as adjunct trainer at PACE (Professional Adult Continuing Education) Academy, Singapore Polytechnic. He was chief instructor for Kumon Education Franchisee

Design Thinking Management TrainerStephen Tan is a Supply Chain professional and practitioner with extensive experiences in End to End Supply Chain, Operations and Supply Management. His experience hails from his career at senior management level at MNC, SME and Non-Profit organisation with industries ranging from Electronic, Chemical, Healthcare, and Offshore & Marine including Oil & Gas industries. He graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration with Distinction from RMIT University. Stephen also has an MBA from Macquarie University as well as a Certified Diploma in Accounting & Finance (ACCA, UK). He is awarded Life Time Certification in Supply Management from ISM, USA and the IE study award with Singapore Management University for Global Supply Chain Management.

He trains (ACTA certified), lecture and does adhoc consultancy project and had worked a philanthropic organization and currently Unilever Indonesia working on Supply Chain and Operations optimization after his stint with a Norwegian regional AP office working on ERP project.

Stephen is an ardent and enthusiastic user of MS Excel not only to simplify reporting for KPI but also as a tool for problem solving, decision making and cost optimization. He has also created various MS Excel tools that linked with ERP to create What-If scenario to solve problem and provide optimum solution. He believes in lifelong learning and has obtained a Specialist Diploma in Business Intelligence and Data Analytic in 2017. He desires to extend the Data Visualization capability of MS Excel, deepening his knowledge, simplifying it and sharing and teaching his knowledge to professional as well as layman.

He had worked previously with HP, CMB as Regional Procurement and handles End to End Supply Chain, Operations, Logistics with top European Flavor and Fragrance companies: Dragoco, Symrise. He also does IT projects, ERP implementations with various systems ranging from RenCS, SAP, IFS and as well as smaller SAGE-ACCPAC supply module systems which automates as well as optimize resources.

He has also developed business analytic system for Supply Chain, Order management, On-Time Delivery and Inventory Control system using combination of Excel, MS Access and other IT tools to leverage data from IT and ERP systems.

Design Thinking TrainerWesley Tan graduated with a Master of Business in IT from the RMIT (Australia). Currently, founder of technology service company based in Singapore catering e-commence, RFID-based, iOT and asset tracking and trace solutions, consulting and project delivery. He specializes in Excel for both basic and advance levels (ICDL certification from UK), conducting Joomla and e-commence (Virtue Mart) workshops.

Design Thinking TrainerTerence Ee has delivered IT training in Singapore and Myanmar. He has also facilitated faith formation courses for Christians in Singapore and Myanmar. As a trainer, his mission is to co-create insightful and actionable learning experiences with his learners.His current areas of focus include project management, information security management, quality management and office productivity applications.

Terence has more than 25 years of corporate IT experience. He has held senior management roles in the public and private sectors. He holds a Master of Science in Technology Management, a Bachelor of Science in Computer and Information Sciences, a Diploma in Family Education, and the Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA). Part of his spare time goes towards tutoring his children in their studies (while learning a thing or two along the way). He is also imparting to them the essential skills for thriving in a digital world.

Design Thinking TrainerTruman Ng graduated with Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering from NUS in year 2002. He designed Artificial Intelligence (AI) controller for DC-DC Power Convertor by using Fuzzy Logic and Neural Network (NN) as his university Final Year Project.

Truman has over 15 years project experiences across Database & Web Design, PLC machinery, Data Center Design , Structure Cabling System(SCS) and Enterprise Network Design and Implementation. He used to be a network architect for Hewlett Packard, working with a group of virtual team from the US in handling network design and projects in the States.

Truman is the founder of Nexplore (S) Pte Ltd. He provides solutions of Cloud SaaS, IaaS & PaaS and Software Defined Network (SDN), VoIP and Internet Security. He was engaged by Huawei Global Training Center to provide 60+ consultations and trainings for Internet Service Providers(ISP) from Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Philipines, Australia, Poland, Iran, South Africa, Swaziland, Cote Dlvoire, Syria, Uzbekistan, New Zealand and countries over the world.
As achievement, Truman has successfully completed 100+ IT network projects for Bank, Hotel and Factory within 5 years.
Truman is certified in PMP, Cisco CCNP, CCIP, CCDP, HP Ase and Huawei HCNP, HCIE R&S, HCNA Cloud, HCNA Security, etc.
