What's This Course About

Generative AI for Design Thinking shows you how to combine the human-centred innovation methods of design thinking with the speed and creativity of generative AI to solve business challenges more effectively. Design thinking helps teams deeply understand users and explore better solutions; generative AI can accelerate research synthesis, ideation, prototyping and testing at every stage. The course is designed for managers, product and service designers, innovation teams, marketers and professionals who want to lead more creative, user-focused problem solving.

You will start with generative AI fundamentals for design thinking, understanding the five stages of empathise, define, ideate, prototype and test, and where AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude and AI image generators add value. Next you will use AI for user research and opportunity discovery, creating interview guides, synthesising research findings, building personas and journey maps, and framing problem statements and how-might-we questions. You will then apply AI to ideation, prototyping and testing, generating and evaluating ideas and quickly creating mock-ups, storyboards and prototypes.

The final topic covers implementing and measuring AI-driven design solutions, planning pilots, gathering feedback and defining success measures. Throughout the course you will also discuss bias, ethics and keeping real user insight at the heart of the process. Every topic is hands-on with a team design challenge. By the end, you will be able to use generative AI to run faster, richer design thinking projects that lead to better products, services and experiences.
