Automate Your Most Repetitive Work Task with n8n and AI Agents

Share

Short version: pick the one task that eats your week, such as sorting enquiry emails, copying form entries into a spreadsheet or chasing approvals, and spend three days building an n8n workflow with an AI agent that handles it for you. That is the outcome of WSQ Agentic AI Automation with n8n. Because the course carries the Free AI sub label on MySkillsFuture, eligible Singapore Citizens can also redeem six months of a premium AI tool after the course, which gives you time to keep improving the workflow on real work.

Start with the task, not the tool

Most people who try automation start with the software and look for something to point it at. It works better the other way round. Pick a task you can describe in one sentence, that happens at least weekly, and that follows roughly the same steps each time. An AI agent is useful where the steps need some judgement, for example reading a message and deciding what kind of request it is, not just moving data from A to B.

Task you do todayWhat the workflow doesWhere the AI agent helps
Reading and routing enquiry emailsWatches the inbox, logs each enquiry, alerts the right personClassifies the request and drafts a first reply
Copying web-form entries into a sheetReceives the form through a webhook and writes a clean rowFixes messy free-text fields and flags incomplete entries
Answering the same policy questionsTakes the question from chat or email and repliesLooks up your own documents (RAG) before answering
Weekly status reportingPulls figures from your tools on a scheduleSummarises what changed and what needs attention
Approvals that sit in someone's inboxSends the request, waits, then continuesPrepares a summary so the approver can decide quickly

If a task needs a judgement call that you would not trust a new colleague with, keep a person in the loop. The course teaches that pattern on purpose.

What you build in three days

The course runs over three days (24 hours) and follows the order you would use to build a real workflow. Using the enquiry-email example, here is how the five topics map onto the build:

  1. Workflow automation with n8n. Set up the trigger (a new email), the actions (log it, notify someone) and the connections to the apps you already use.
  2. Agentic process automation with AI agents. Add an AI agent that reads each enquiry, decides what type it is and chooses the next step, instead of you writing a rule for every case.
  3. Webhooks and HTTP requests. Connect systems that have no ready-made n8n node, such as an internal form, a booking system or a third-party API.
  4. Agentic RAG. Let the agent look up your own price lists, FAQs or policies before drafting a reply, so answers are based on your information rather than the model's guess.
  5. Human-in-the-loop, monitoring and security. Route sensitive replies to a person for approval, catch and handle errors, and keep credentials and data safe before the workflow runs unattended.

You leave with a working workflow and the know-how to build the next one yourself. n8n is a low-code tool, so you do not need to be a programmer. The entry requirements are a polytechnic diploma and at least one year of working experience, which also gives you real tasks to automate. See the full outline and upcoming dates on the course page.

The six months after class: where the free AI subscription comes in

A workflow is never finished on the last day of a course. You will find edge cases, refine prompts and add steps once real data starts flowing. That is what the SkillsFuture AI subscription is for. In SWDA's words, it lets you “apply what you have learnt to real use cases at work and in everyday life”.

Eligible learners choose one of five subscriptions. For someone building automations, this is how they compare:

SubscriptionUseful for an automation builder when you…
ChatGPT Pluswant a strong all-round assistant to plan workflows, write and test prompts, and debug expressions or JSON
Google AI Prowork mainly in Gmail, Docs and Sheets and want Gemini built into those apps
Microsoft 365 Personalwork mainly in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook and want Copilot built in
Manus AIwant a general AI agent for research and multi-step knowledge work alongside your own workflows
Singtel AI Passwant to try a range of AI tools for three months before settling on one for the next three

One thing to plan for: a consumer subscription is not the same as API access. The AI nodes inside n8n usually call a model through an API key, which providers normally bill separately on their developer platforms. Use the subscription as your thinking and debugging partner, and set aside a small budget for the API calls your workflow makes.

Who is eligible, and how redemption works

These rules come from SWDA's official Redeem AI Subscription page:

  • Who: Singapore Citizens aged 18 and above.
  • Which courses: you must enrol in and complete a course carrying the Free AI subscription label on MySkillsFuture, with a course end date on or after 16 September 2026. This course carries the label (TGS-2023035977).
  • How many: one subscription per person in total, however many eligible courses you attend.
  • When: access follows the course. It is not given when you enrol. After you complete the course, SWDA emails you the subscription request form and you have 60 days from that email to choose your tool.
  • Your choice is final: you cannot change the subscription once the form is submitted. You receive the outcome and activation details by email.

Singapore PRs and other learners can still take the course and use any course-fee funding they qualify for. They are not eligible for the subscription. For every step from the AI Ready Quiz to activation, see our step-by-step claim guide.

Course fee and funding

The subscription is separate from course-fee funding. You keep the usual WSQ subsidy, and the subscription is on top of it.

LearnerFundingNett fee (incl. GST)
Full fee–$1,308.00 ($1,200 + $108 GST)
Singapore Citizen / PR aged 21+50% WSQ funding$708.00
Singapore Citizen aged 40+ (MCES), or SME-sponsored70% WSQ funding$468.00

Singapore Citizens can use SkillsFuture Credit to offset the nett fee, and eligible companies can use SkillsFuture Enterprise Credit. Funding needs digital attendance via the Singpass app and a pass in the assessments. Check your exact amount when you register on the course page.

Where this fits in your learning pathway

Treat the n8n course as the point where AI moves from something you chat with to something that does work for you. A sensible route:

  • Before: if you have hardly used AI tools, spend a few weeks using a free AI assistant for everyday writing and research first. You will get much more from the agent topics.
  • After, if you lead a team or a business unit: Business Innovation with Agentic AI and AI Agents moves from one workflow to deciding where agents should change how your organisation works.
  • After, if your work is marketing: Multi AI Agents Workflow for Content Creation applies the same multi-agent ideas to a content pipeline.
  • After, if you want to write code: AI Vibe Coding with Python covers the cases n8n nodes cannot handle.

Take these follow-on courses for the skills. They do not earn another subscription, because the limit is one per person. If you are eligible, redeem it after whichever eligible course you take first, and choose the tool you will use on your workflows.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to know how to code to learn n8n?

No. n8n is a low-code, visual workflow tool. You connect nodes on a canvas. Some comfort with simple logic and with reading data such as JSON helps, and the course walks you through it.

Do I get the free AI subscription as soon as I sign up?

No. Redemption happens after you complete the course. You receive an email with the request form and have 60 days from that email to submit the request form. Activation details follow by email if your request is successful.

Can I get a second subscription by taking another eligible course?

No. Each eligible Singapore Citizen can redeem one subscription in total, regardless of how many eligible courses they attend.

I am a Singapore PR. Can I still take the course with funding?

Yes. Singapore PRs aged 21 and above qualify for 50% WSQ funding on this course. The free AI subscription is only for Singapore Citizens aged 18 and above.

Will ChatGPT Plus pay for the AI calls my n8n workflow makes?

Usually not. Consumer subscriptions and API usage are normally billed separately, so plan a small API budget for workflows that run on their own. Use the subscription for designing, testing and debugging your workflows.

Can I use SkillsFuture Credit for this course?

Yes. Eligible Singapore Citizens can use SkillsFuture Credit to offset the fee payable after WSQ funding.

Next step

Write down the one task you would most like to stop doing by hand, then bring it to class. You will spend three days turning it into a working n8n workflow with an AI agent, with WSQ funding on the fee. If you are an eligible Singapore Citizen, you can then redeem a six-month AI subscription to keep refining it. See dates and register for WSQ Agentic AI Automation with n8n, or browse all courses with a free AI subscription. For eligibility and every claim step, read how to claim your free AI subscription.
