AI for Accounting shows accountants and finance teams how to bring modern AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude and Microsoft Copilot into everyday accounting work. AI can extract data from invoices and receipts, categorise transactions, assist with reconciliations, draft reports and flag unusual entries, reducing manual effort and the risk of errors. The course is designed for accountants, bookkeepers, finance executives and SME owners who want practical, responsible ways to use AI in their accounting practice.

You will begin with an introduction to AI for accounting, covering what current AI tools can do, where they fit in the accounting workflow, and how to write effective prompts for finance tasks. Next you will apply AI to bookkeeping and transactions, using it to read and extract data from documents, classify expenses, prepare journal entries and support bank reconciliations. You will then use AI for reporting and analysis, summarising financial statements, explaining variances, building simple forecasts and preparing management commentary.

The final topic covers AI for compliance, audit and automation, including reviewing transactions for anomalies, preparing audit schedules, checking policy and GST considerations, and automating repetitive steps with AI-powered workflows. Throughout the course you will learn how to verify AI output, protect confidential financial data and keep professional judgement at the centre of your work. By the end, you will be able to use AI confidently to work faster, improve accuracy and add more value as an accounting professional.
