NICF – Pattern Recognition with Deep Learning

This intermediate course is a follow up course from Basic Deep Learning with Tensorflow Keras.

This WSQ course will focus on two common pattern recognition problems - image and text recognition. The topics are scaffolded such that the learner starts at the basic level and progressively move up the difficulty levels. This course starts by introducing to the learners the basic concepts and coding on Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) for image recognition in Topic 1. Next, it shows learners how to diagnose and overcome overfitting issues related to image recognition training on small datasets in Topic 2. Next, it introduces functional API in Topic 3 which is used in the subsequent topic of transfer learning in Topic 4 to overcome overfitting issues. Finally, the last topic will cover text classification using Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) and word embedding.

Course Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, learners will be able to 

  • Understand and code CNN models for image recognition
  • Diagnose overfitting issues in image recognition and propose methods to overcome the issues.
  • Perform functional API coding based on a selected model.
  • Implement transfer learning to fine tune the image recognition models.
  • Understand code RNN models and word embedding for text recognition

Certification

Two certificates will be awarded to trainees who have demonstrated competency in the WSQ Pattern Recognition with Deep Learning assessment and achieved at least 75% attendance.

  • A SkillsFuture WSQ Statement of Attainment (SOA) – ICT-DIT-3001-1.1 Analytics and Computational Modelling under the National Infocomm Competency Framework (NICF) issued by WSG
  • Certification of Completion issued by Tertiary Infotech Pte Ltd
