What's This Course About

Create Short Video Film Using AI is a practical, hands-on course that equips participants with the skills to plan, create, and produce engaging short video films using Generative AI tools. Participants will explore how AI can support the entire video production process, from developing an initial concept and storyline to generating visual assets, video scenes, voiceovers, music, and the final edited film.

Participants will learn to use Generative AI to develop creative concepts, storylines, scripts, characters, dialogue, and storyboards. They will apply effective prompting techniques to generate consistent characters, locations, visual styles, camera shots, and scenes that align with the intended narrative and target audience.

The course introduces AI-powered image and video generation techniques, including text-to-image, image-to-video, and text-to-video workflows. Participants will explore cinematic concepts such as shot composition, camera angles, camera movement, lighting, pacing, transitions, and visual storytelling to create more professional and engaging video sequences.

Participants will also use AI to generate voiceovers, dialogue, sound effects, and background music before combining their assets through video editing. They will learn to refine scenes, synchronise audio and visuals, add captions and effects, and improve the overall flow of the film.

By the end of the course, participants will have planned, generated, edited, and produced a complete AI-assisted short video film while developing practical skills for future creative video projects.

Tay Hoo Wee is a film producer, creative director and media educator whose work sits at the meeting point of cinema and new creative technology. Through Asia Media Academy, which he founded and directs, he has led digital media training and course development that nurtures content creators in Singapore's creative industry. He has worked on feature and television productions including Kallang Roar the Movie (2008), Ghost on Air (2012), Crazy Rich Asians (2017) and HBO's Halfworlds, and has collaborated with Sir Ridley Scott Productions, HBO, Netflix and Mediacorp. His skills cover the whole filmmaking chain: digital storytelling, production management, cinematography, post-production and visual design. He also works extensively in Adobe Creative Cloud, including Photoshop, Illustrator and Firefly, and has a strong focus on merging traditional film storytelling with generative AI, helping creators use AI to realise ideas that once needed a full crew. For aspiring storytellers, he offers a rare combination of real production credits and practical generative AI know-how.

In WSQ - Create Short Video Film using AI, Hoo Wee teaches participants to think like filmmakers while working with AI. The course begins with AI vision and generative AI for short film creation, where learners develop concepts, storylines, characters, dialogue and storyboards with his guidance on structure and pacing. Topics on AI image processing, generation and visual enhancement, and on visual features, character consistency and scene design, build on his cinematography and visual design experience: learners prompt for consistent characters, locations, visual styles and camera shots that serve the story. He then leads AI video generation, animation and video analytics, before closing with cloud and edge AI workflows for short film production. Throughout, his experience on professional sets helps participants make sound creative choices about framing, continuity, sound and music. He also shares how professional productions are planned and scheduled, so learners can manage their own projects with the same discipline. Learners leave having planned and produced their own AI-assisted short film from first idea to final edit.

Don Chan is a creative media educator and filmmaking mentor with more than 15 years of experience in school enrichment, adult professional training and creative production. As Senior Media Trainer for MOE public schools since 2012, he teaches camera craft, directing, sound, editing and visual storytelling, and he mentored the Kent Ridge Secondary team that won 1st Place at the 2026 Objectifs Student Film of the Year, with Serangoon Garden Secondary placing 1st Runner-Up and St. Anthony's Canossian Secondary receiving a Special Mention. His students have earned many other awards, including CNB #DrugFreeSG, the School Digital Media Awards and the IMDA Digital for Life Youth Awards. He is also Founder, Lead Trainer and Creative Director of Pixel Cloud, and since 2019 has delivered more than 100 adult course runs through its NTUC LearningHub partnership with a 4.90/5 average trainer-effectiveness rating, and works professionally in corporate videography and event and wedding photography and videography.

In WSQ - Create Short Video Film using AI, Don combines his award-winning film mentoring with hands-on generative AI practice. Learners begin with AI vision and generative AI for short film creation, developing concepts, storylines, scripts, characters, dialogue and storyboards the way he coaches young filmmakers to plan a film before a single shot is taken. The topics on AI image processing, generation and visual enhancement, and on visual features, character consistency and scene design, draw on his design and photography background, using tools such as Adobe Firefly and Photoshop to keep characters, locations and visual style consistent. He then leads AI video generation, animation and video analytics, and closes with cloud and edge AI workflows for short film production. As a DaVinci Resolve Certified Trainer and music producer, he also guides the final edit, sound and score, with Suno among the AI tools explored. Learners leave with a complete AI-assisted short film they planned and produced themselves.

Dr. Alfred Ang specialises in voice and video agent deployment alongside agentic AI automation, which makes AI filmmaking a natural extension of his engineering work. He is a full-stack AI developer, Agentic AI solution architect, courseware developer and corporate trainer, and the founder of Tertiary Courses, serving as Managing Director, CIO, CTO and Chief Instructional Designer of Tertiary Infotech Academy Pte Ltd, which designs and delivers Skills Framework-aligned WSQ programmes. His GitHub portfolio holds several video projects. hermes-video-pipeline is an automated YouTube production pipeline in which a topic request triggers an agent that researches, scripts, renders, verifies and publishes videos autonomously. videocreation turns any topic into a narrated video with AI-generated scripts, voiceover and animated scenes in TikTok and YouTube formats. lipsyncdemo converts a portrait and a script into a talking avatar using three lip-sync engines, and digitalhuman is a service for building branded, voice-enabled avatars with cloned voices. socialmediapost publishes video, photos and text to 22 platforms from a single API call. He holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from NUS and a Graduate Diploma in Intelligent Robotics Systems from NUS-ISS, is a Microsoft Certified AI Engineer Associate (AI-102), an AWS Certified Solutions Architect and AI Practitioner, and a Unity Certified User, with experience across cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes and DevOps. As an ACTA-certified trainer and DACE-certified curriculum developer, he turns these production techniques into steps that beginners can follow.

WSQ - Create Short Video Film using AI takes participants through the whole production process, from concept to finished film. The course starts with AI vision and generative AI for short film creation, where learners develop a concept, storyline, script, characters and storyboard with AI assistance. The second topic covers AI image processing, generation and visual enhancement for creating key frames and assets, and the third tackles one of the hardest problems in AI film: keeping characters, locations and visual style consistent from scene to scene through careful prompting and reference images. In the fourth topic learners generate video scenes and animation, add AI voiceovers and music, and use video analytics to review pacing and quality, before the final topic on cloud and edge AI workflows shows how to organise, render and deliver their projects efficiently. Dr. Ang's experience automating video pipelines means he teaches production as a repeatable workflow rather than a series of lucky generations, with clear checkpoints for script, look, sound and edit. He also addresses copyright, likeness and voice consent, which matter whenever avatars or cloned voices are involved. Sessions are highly practical: every participant plans, generates and edits their own short film during the course and leaves with a completed piece and a reusable production workflow. He also shares practical tips on choosing tools, managing generation credits and organising project files. To see how his video automation projects are built, view his GitHub portfolio at https://github.com/alfredang and connect with him on LinkedIn at https://www.linkedin.com/in/angchewhoe/

In WSQ - Create Short Video Film using AI, Woei Ming brings his background in image analysis and deep learning to generative visual work. Learners explore AI vision and generative AI for short film creation, AI image processing, generation and enhancement, character consistency and scene design, AI video generation, animation and video analytics, and cloud and edge AI workflows for production. His sessions cover prompting for consistent characters and locations, camera shots and scene composition, with applied examples in product, training and campaign films. Learners leave understanding how the underlying models work and able to use generative AI tools effectively to produce short films.

Richard Wan is an ACLP-certified lecturer with more than 40 years of experience in software and hardware development, specialising in AI, computer vision, machine learning and embedded systems. A government scholar, he holds a Master's degree in Computer Vision and a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He has co-founded several high-tech companies, including SGX-listed Mediaring Ltd and E-Book Systems, led advanced R&D projects with Singapore's National Computer Board, and taught deep learning and computer vision with TensorFlow, PyTorch and OpenCV.

In WSQ Create Short Video Film using AI, Richard teaches learners to turn a concept, storyline and storyboard into a finished short film. The course moves from AI vision and generative AI for short film creation through AI image processing, generation and enhancement, character consistency and scene design, and AI video generation, animation and video analytics, before covering cloud and edge AI workflows for production. His sessions include text-to-video and image-to-video workflows and cinematic shot design, so participants gain both conceptual and practical knowledge. By combining technical expertise with applied teaching, Richard equips learners to build their own end-to-end generative AI creative workflows.
