What's This Course About

This course equips participants with practical, hands-on skills to automate business processes using Microsoft Copilot Studio workflows, agents, and Power Automate. Based on the new Copilot Studio experience, the course focuses on the fundamentals of creating agents, building workflows, connecting business applications and data, and enabling agents to perform real-world business tasks.

Participants will learn how to create and configure Copilot Studio agents, define agent instructions and capabilities, design workflows with inputs and outputs, trigger automated actions, and integrate workflows with Power Automate. Through guided hands-on exercises, learners will explore how agents and workflows work together to receive requests, process information, make decisions, execute actions, and return structured results.

The course emphasizes practical workplace applications. Participants will build automation solutions for common scenarios such as handling customer enquiries, processing applications, routing approvals, onboarding customers, updating business records, generating documents, sending notifications, and coordinating multi-step processes.

Learners will also practise testing and troubleshooting workflows and agents, handling exceptions, refining agent behaviour, and improving automation reliability.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to design and build practical Copilot Studio agents and workflows that reduce repetitive work, improve process efficiency, and support day-to-day business operations with minimal coding.

Sanjiv Venkatram is an ACTA-certified trainer and the CEO of Prudentia Consulting, an organisation committed to promoting the active use of the Microsoft platform. His corporate career spans more than nine years at Microsoft in the US and Asia Pacific, over three years at Cognizant Technology Solutions, eight years at Yazaki North America and, until recently, a role at Oracle. Along the way he has led business and finance consulting work and developed business intelligence, data analytics and IoT-led BI solutions, with functional expertise in sales analytics, financial planning and analysis, engineering and programme management. Much of that work took place in complex high-tech businesses, turnaround environments and strategic transformations, which gave him a sharp eye for where manual, repetitive processes slow an organisation down. He also has a working knowledge of equities portfolio management within the financial services domain.

In this WSQ course, Sanjiv brings that process-minded, Microsoft-platform perspective to business process automation with Power Automate and Copilot Studio. He believes the agility of the Microsoft platform should give people time back for deeper business thinking and for their customers, and that conviction shapes how he teaches Copilot Studio workflows and agents. Learners design workflows with clear inputs and outputs, create and configure agents with instructions and capabilities, trigger automated actions and connect agents to business applications and data, before applying everything to real-life business scenarios. Drawing on his experience of identifying key KPIs and capturing budget inputs from countries across the globe, he encourages participants to start from a well-understood process and a measurable outcome rather than from the tool itself, so that the automations they build in class can be carried straight back into their own teams.

Eugene Wong is a data analytics consultant and Microsoft-certified Power BI specialist with more than 15 years of experience in business intelligence, data visualisation and performance reporting. He has implemented end-to-end analytics solutions for organisations in finance, logistics and education, helping them design scalable dashboards that drive strategic decisions. His technical foundation spans Power BI, DAX and data modelling, together with SQL, Excel and Power Query, and he is known for building automated reporting systems that transform complex data into actionable insights. That focus on automation, on replacing manual, repetitive reporting work with dependable, repeatable processes, is what connects his analytics practice to the wider Microsoft platform and to the business process automation covered in this course.

In this WSQ course on business process automation with Power Automate and Copilot Studio agents, Eugene brings a data professional's perspective to every workflow. Learners create Copilot Studio workflows with defined inputs and outputs, build and configure agents with instructions and capabilities, connect them to business applications and data, and apply them to real-life business tasks. Eugene's experience with data modelling and Power Query helps participants think carefully about the data their workflows consume and produce: where it comes from, how it should be structured and how its results will be reported. Having spent years helping organisations turn complex data into decisions, he encourages learners to design automations whose outcomes can be measured and reviewed, so that an agent or workflow is not only built quickly but also delivers results the business can see and trust. Participants leave with working workflows and agents, together with a clear plan for tracking how well they perform once they are in use.

Kesston Tang is an ACTA-certified trainer whose career spans more than twenty years in the ICT and supply chain sectors, including warehouse management, where well-run processes make the difference between smooth operations and costly delays. He has delivered multi-million-dollar ICT projects for multinational corporations and government agencies, and holds PMP, ITIL and TOGAF certifications for project, service and architecture management, along with the Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) credential and the security certifications CEH, CHFI and EC-Council Certified SOC Analyst (CSA). He also consults on business negotiation, financial analysis and corporate advisory, and is pursuing a Doctor of Business Administration and a Master in Education. That combination lets him look at automation from both the technical and the business side. His teaching draws heavily on the practical realities of running operations at scale.

On this WSQ course in Business Process Automation with Power Automate and Copilot Studio Agents, Kesston applies his process and service management background to the new Copilot Studio experience. Learners build Copilot Studio workflows to automate routine business tasks, then create Copilot Studio agents that answer questions and act on information, before applying both to realistic business scenarios. He encourages learners to map a process carefully before automating it, identifying triggers, approvals, exceptions and owners, much as he would scope a project with a client. His security certifications also keep sensible attention on connectors, permissions and data handling. Learners also practise testing their workflows and agents with both normal and unusual inputs, so that they understand how each solution behaves before it is shared with colleagues. The hands-on exercises are built around the kind of repetitive, rules-based work found in most offices, so learners can return to the workplace with a clear idea of which of their own processes to automate first and how to do it safely.

Jane Tan is a Microsoft Fabric trainer with Tertiary Courses. Her full trainer profile is coming soon.

Dr. Alfred Ang approaches business process automation as both a Microsoft-certified practitioner and a builder of agentic workflows. He is a Microsoft Certified Power App Maker (PL-100), Power BI Data Analyst (PL-300), AI Engineer Associate (AI-102) and Data Scientist (DP-100), and his wider practice covers multi-agent system design with n8n, Langflow, Flowise, the OpenAI Agents SDK, the Claude Agent SDK, Microsoft AutoGen and CrewAI. As a full-stack AI developer and Agentic AI solution architect, he leads agentic AI adoption for enterprises, automating customer service, internal workflows, analytics and decision support, and he serves as Managing Director, CIO, CTO and Chief Instructional Designer of Tertiary Infotech Academy Pte Ltd, the company behind Tertiary Courses, which he founded. Several projects in his GitHub portfolio of more than 300 public repositories mirror the workflow patterns this course teaches: n8n-hrportal is a self-service HR portal where leave applications pass through human-in-the-loop manager approval before the workflow continues; kacificerpr is an ERP prototype in which purchase orders are approved by people over email, Asana or Telegram and invoices are three-way matched; and malaysia_automation_setup adapts an auto-reply email workflow with Gmail authentication and subscriber synchronisation. He holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from NUS and an MSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from NTU, and is a PMP and ITIL-certified professional, which grounds his automation work in structured process thinking.

In WSQ Business Process Automation with Power Automate and Copilot Studio Agents, Dr. Ang helps learners see a business process as a sequence of triggers, inputs, decisions and actions that an agent or workflow can take over. The first topic covers Copilot Studio workflows, designing flows with clear inputs and outputs, triggering automated actions and integrating them with Power Automate. The second topic focuses on Copilot Studio agents, from defining agent instructions and capabilities to connecting business applications and data so the agent can complete real tasks. The third topic brings both together in real-life applications, where learners automate processes drawn from their own work. His experience with approval-based workflows shapes a recurring theme: decide in advance which steps an agent may complete on its own and which need a human sign-off, and design the flow so that exceptions are visible rather than silently dropped. His Power Platform certifications help him explain how Copilot Studio fits alongside Power Automate and the wider Microsoft 365 environment, while his PMP background encourages learners to document a process before automating it. As an ACTA-certified trainer and DACE-certified curriculum developer, he keeps the sessions practical, with guided builds and time for learners to adapt each workflow to their own organisation. Learners leave with working agents and flows and a method for finding the next process worth automating. He also shows how to test each flow with realistic sample data before switching it on for colleagues. To see the workflow automation projects behind his teaching, explore his GitHub portfolio at https://github.com/alfredang and connect with him on LinkedIn at https://www.linkedin.com/in/angchewhoe/
