Dr. Alfred Ang is a physicist and engineer by training. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Physics from the National University of Singapore, and his PhD in Electrical Engineering at NUS focused on microelectronics and quantum effects in semiconductor devices, so the quantum mechanics behind qubits, from superposition and entanglement to tunnelling and measurement, is the physics he studied and researched first-hand. He has delivered corporate training on quantum computing for A*STAR, Singapore's Agency for Science, Technology and Research. He also holds an MSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from NTU and spent more than 20 years in the defence, electronics and semiconductor industries, where he co-invented more than 20 US patents and published more than 20 peer-reviewed papers. Today he is the Chief Technology Officer of Tertiary Infotech Academy and founded Tertiary Infotech Sdn. Bhd. in Malaysia in 2016. A Distinguished Toastmaster with many public speaking awards, he explains abstract quantum ideas in a clear, intuitive way.
In Quantum Computing Fundamentals for Beginners, Dr. Ang builds understanding from the physics up. Learners start with why quantum computers differ from classical ones, then work with qubits, superposition, entanglement and measurement, quantum gates and circuits, and landmark algorithms such as Deutsch-Jozsa, Grover's search and Shor's factoring, running simple circuits on simulators and cloud quantum hardware. His background in quantum effects in semiconductor devices lets him connect the mathematics to real physical qubits and today's hardware limits, so beginners leave with a genuine, not superficial, understanding of what quantum computing can and cannot do.
