Sanjiv Venkatram is the CEO of Prudentia Consulting, an organisation dedicated to promoting the active use of the Microsoft platform, and an ACTA-certified trainer. Before founding his consultancy he built a long corporate career that includes more than nine years at Microsoft in the US and Asia Pacific, over three years at Cognizant Technology Solutions, eight years at Yazaki North America and, until recently, Oracle. His projects have been about turning scattered business data into usable tools: he developed a budget audit tool that captured budget inputs from a host of countries across the globe, helped identify key KPIs and land them in a SQL database, and defined the functional architecture of a business unit P&L reporting tool in Business Objects for a worldwide financial planning and analysis team.
That experience of designing tools around how people actually enter, store and use data is a natural foundation for Microsoft Copilot for Power Apps. Sanjiv shows learners how to get started with Copilot across the Power Platform, describe an app in plain English and refine the canvas app Copilot generates, then extend their work into automated processes with Power Automate and model-driven apps built on Dataverse tables. Throughout the course he connects each step back to business value, drawing on his functional background in sales analytics, financial planning and analysis and programme management to help citizen developers and analysts decide what data an app should capture and how it should flow into reporting. His aim is for participants to leave with apps that digitise a real process in their workplace, and with the confidence to keep improving them using the Microsoft platform he has championed for years.
Eugene Wong is a data analytics consultant whose career of more than 15 years has been built on business intelligence, data visualisation and performance reporting. A Microsoft-certified Power BI specialist, he has implemented end-to-end analytics solutions across finance, logistics and education, designing scalable dashboards that help organisations make strategic decisions. He is skilled in Power BI, DAX and data modelling, and his strong technical foundation in SQL, Excel and Power Query allows him to build powerful, automated reporting systems that transform complex data into actionable insights. As Power BI is part of the same Microsoft Power Platform family as Power Apps and Power Automate, his work sits naturally alongside the app-building and automation skills taught in this course.
In Microsoft Copilot for Power Apps, Eugene focuses on the data side of app building, which is where his experience matters most. Learners start with Copilot across the Power Platform, describe the app they need in plain English and refine the generated canvas app, then build automated processes with Power Automate and model-driven apps on Dataverse. Eugene's data modelling background helps participants design sensible Dataverse tables and relationships, and think about how the information an app captures will later be analysed and reported. He draws on his work with Excel and Power Query to show how many business processes still depend on spreadsheets, and how a well-designed app can replace them with structured, reliable data. Business users and citizen developers leave able to build useful apps quickly with Copilot, and with a clearer sense of how good data design makes those apps last. He also encourages learners to keep their first apps simple and to iterate with Copilot.
Kesston Tang is an ACTA-certified trainer with more than two decades of experience in the ICT and supply chain sectors, including warehouse management. He has delivered multi-million-dollar ICT projects for multinational corporations and government agencies, and holds the Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) credential alongside PMP, ITIL, TOGAF, CEH, CHFI and EC-Council Certified SOC Analyst (CSA) certifications. His enterprise architecture and project management background gives him a structured way of thinking about business applications: what data they rely on, who uses them and how they are maintained. He also consults on business negotiation, financial analysis and corporate advisory, coaches clients on online presence marketing, and is pursuing a Doctor of Business Administration and a Master in Education. He teaches in a patient, practical way that suits learners who are new to building apps.
Microsoft Copilot for Power Apps applies that structured thinking to building business applications with AI. Kesston helps learners get started with Copilot across the Microsoft Power Platform, then work through creating and managing canvas apps with Power Apps (PL-7001), automating processes with Power Automate (PL-7002), and building model-driven apps with Power Apps and Dataverse (PL-7003). He shows how describing an app in plain English can produce a useful first draft, and then how to refine the data model, screens and flows so the result is fit for everyday use. His TOGAF and ITIL grounding brings practical guidance on solution design, environments and ongoing maintenance, while his security background keeps data access in view. Learners also see how Copilot can help explain formulas and suggest flow steps, which makes it easier for those without a development background to understand and maintain what they build. Learners leave with working apps and automations, and the confidence to keep improving them as their business needs change over time.
Jane Tan is a Microsoft Fabric trainer with Tertiary Courses. Her full trainer profile is coming soon.
Dr. Alfred Ang combines Microsoft Power Platform credentials with years of building business applications by hand, a pairing that suits a course about letting AI do the scaffolding. He is a Microsoft Certified Power App Maker (PL-100), Power BI Data Analyst (PL-300), AI Engineer Associate (AI-102) and Data Scientist (DP-100), and he also holds AWS Certified Solutions Architect and AI Practitioner credentials. A full-stack AI developer and Agentic AI solution architect, he is Managing Director, CIO, CTO and Chief Instructional Designer of Tertiary Infotech Academy Pte Ltd and founder of Tertiary Courses, and he leads agentic AI adoption and digital transformation work that automates customer service, internal workflows and analytics for organisations. The business apps on his GitHub, which holds more than 300 public repositories, mirror the scenarios Power Apps is designed for: tertiary-hrms is an HR and accounting platform with role-based access, leave accrual and clock-in and clock-out attendance; n8n-hrportal is a self-service HR portal with leave applications, human-in-the-loop manager approval and a live leave dashboard; and kacificerpr is an ERP prototype covering purchase orders with approval routing, three-way-matched invoices and per-depot stock with low-stock replenishment. He holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from NUS, an MSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from NTU and a B.Sc (Hons) in Physics from NUS, and he is co-inventor of more than 20 US patents. He is also PMP and ITIL certified, which shapes how he scopes, documents and governs business applications.
As one of the trainers on Microsoft Copilot for Power Apps, Dr. Ang brings his Power Platform background and app-building experience to each of the four topics. Learners start by getting started with Copilot for Microsoft Power Platform, understanding environments and Dataverse, and describing an app in plain English so that Copilot generates a working canvas app with tables, screens and controls. The PL-7001 topic goes deeper into creating and managing canvas apps, refining layouts, formulas and data connections through conversation with Copilot. PL-7002 turns to Power Automate, where learners build automated processes such as notifications and approval flows, an area where he can draw directly on his own work building approval-driven HR and procurement systems. PL-7003 covers model-driven apps with Power Apps and Dataverse, including how to structure tables and relationships so an app stays maintainable as requirements grow. He is careful to show where Copilot's suggestions need checking, from data types to security roles, because a generated app is only as good as the data model behind it. As an ACTA-certified trainer and DACE-certified curriculum developer, he keeps the sessions practical for business users, analysts, citizen developers and IT professionals, so each participant leaves with apps and flows that digitise a real process from their own workplace. He also shares tips for naming, documenting and sharing apps so that colleagues can maintain them after the course. Trainer is very knowledgeable - MVP in his area. However, if he can squeeze every time out to teach us more PowerApps coding, how to use, and apply will be a 5 star program (Posted on 11/22/2021)1.
