Micro:bit Training for Beginners

The micro:bit is an educational and creative tool to encourage young people (children and adults) to get actively involved in writing software for computers. It can help give young people the knowledge and skills to move from being consumers of digital information, to being designers and creators of new tools to enhance learning, to solve problems or just to have fun, enabling them to exemplify the spirit of innovation and towards building a Smart Nation in the 21st Century.

The course has a unique mix of introductory notes and fun challenges that will get the learners programming the micro:bit in no time. The Trainer explains Blockly and programming concepts behind the code. Best of all, the learners will use the micro:bit simulator to learn, explore what the micro:bit can do, or polish their programs before using them on a real micro:bit.

This course demystifies the tech and explains how to make the most of the micro:bit. Each participant will get a micro:bit to learn about the hardware and how to program it using the block editor (visual programming). No coding or technical experience needed – this course is suitable for everyone.

He has been involved in supervising computer operations and implementing IT solutions in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Houston, London, Munich, Greece, Belgium, Sydney, Shanghai, New Delhi and Bombay.

Stephen has been a professional Web consultant and trainer since then, and has worked with almost every Web technology including XML, CMS, HTML, PHP, C, Python and Java. Besides software technology, his area of expertise also includes consumer electronics gadgets. In his spare time, he indulges in activities you would expect of a gadget geek. Stephen loves all types of gizmos and wants to share his passion with everyone. In addition to his love for electronics gadgets, he also enjoys photography and making videos when not at work.

Finally, Stephen graduated with a Master degree in Management Business in Information Technology and an Advanced Diploma in Software Technology. Robotics TrainerGabriel is an avid electronics enthusiast who is a big believer of the maker movement. He experiences great joy in imparting his knowledge of electronics and programming to other people as he believes it is an honour to share and see how his students grows as individuals with their new skills.Building cool projects such as Smart Rubbish Bin and building new electronics kits he hopes to rise to new heights of success with his students.

Mr Gerald Ong is keen on pursuing a facilitator / curriculum developer role in the Learning & Education Industry and is an MOE-Registered Instructor and a MOE-registered relief teacher. He has spent 6 years as a salesperson selling products and services to B2B and B2C customers. Through his journey as a salesperson, he learnt many technical and soft skills.

He completed his Diploma in Mechanical Engineering at Singapore Polytechnic in 2007, and graduated with Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing from Murdoch University, Australia in 2014 and has recently completed his Cert IV in Training & Education from Australia-International Institute of Workplace Training, along with his WSQ Advanced Certificate in Training & Assessment from Institute of Adult Learning, Singapore. He finished his primary and secondary education in both St Gabriel’s Primary & Secondary Schools.
