What's This Course About

This course equips participants with practical skills to use Generative AI for script development, storytelling, storyboarding, and multimedia content creation. Learners will explore how AI can support the creative process from initial concept development to the production of complete, engaging narratives for media, advertising, education, entertainment, and digital platforms.

Participants will apply storytelling principles to develop themes, plots, narrative structures, characters, dialogue, settings, and fictional worlds. They will use Generative AI to explore creative directions, overcome idea blocks, develop alternative storylines, and adapt scripts for different audiences, formats, tones, and communication objectives.

The course also covers script evaluation and refinement. Learners will review AI-generated content for clarity, originality, pacing, emotional impact, character consistency, and narrative coherence. They will translate scripts into visual storyboards by planning scenes, camera angles, shot sequences, transitions, dialogue, voiceovers, and supporting visual elements.

Through practical projects, participants will integrate scripts, images, audio, voiceovers, and AI-generated video elements into cohesive storytelling presentations. Emphasis is placed on maintaining human creative direction and addressing responsible content creation issues such as factual accuracy, bias, cultural sensitivity, plagiarism, copyright, and appropriate disclosure of AI-generated materials.

By the end of the course, learners will be able to use Generative AI to develop, refine, visualise, and present compelling stories while improving creative productivity and maintaining professional and ethical standards. This course is suitable for beginner and intermediate learners with an interest in writing, content creation, or digital media.

Dr. Alfred Ang has spent years turning complex material into stories people can follow, first as a courseware developer and now as an engineer who automates video and scripted content with generative AI. He is the founder of Tertiary Courses and serves as Managing Director, CIO, CTO and Chief Instructional Designer of Tertiary Infotech Academy Pte Ltd, where he designs Skills Framework-aligned programmes and translates technical topics into practical learning experiences. He is a DACE-certified curriculum developer and ACTA-certified trainer, and an earlier venture, OSWeb2Design Singapore Pte Ltd, offered graphics design and ebook publishing alongside web and digital marketing services. As a full-stack AI developer specialising in conversational, voice and video agents, he has published several story-to-screen projects on GitHub. videocreation turns any topic into a narrated video with AI-generated scripts, voiceover and animated scenes in TikTok and YouTube formats. hermes-video-pipeline is an automated production pipeline for Tertiary Courses in which a topic request triggers an agent that researches, scripts, renders, verifies and publishes the video. lipsyncdemo turns a portrait and a script into a talking avatar using three lip-sync engines, and digitalhuman builds branded, voice-enabled avatars trained on an organisation's own content. He also holds a Certificate in AI Ethics and Governance (Senior Professional) from NTU, a PhD in Electrical Engineering from NUS and a B.Sc (Hons) in Physics from NUS, and has published more than 20 peer-reviewed papers and co-invented more than 20 US patents.

In Generative AI for Script Development and Storytelling, Dr. Ang treats AI as a creative collaborator that still needs a writer in charge. The first topic covers script development and creative storytelling with generative AI: learners apply storytelling principles to themes, plot, narrative structure, characters, dialogue and setting, and use AI to explore alternative directions, break through idea blocks and adapt a script for different audiences, formats and tones. The second topic, AI-assisted storyboarding, visual design and video creation, is where his own pipeline work shows. Having built tools that take a script through voiceover, animated scenes and talking-avatar video, he can demonstrate how a written scene becomes a storyboard and then a short video, and where human judgement improves the result at each step. The final topic, script refinement, responsible AI and copyright risk management, draws on his AI ethics and governance training: learners review AI-generated drafts for consistency and voice, and examine ownership, attribution and the risks of reproducing protected material in media, advertising, education and entertainment work. His sessions are hands-on and project-based, so each learner develops a concept from first idea to a refined script and visual storyboard, with time to compare outputs across tools. As an instructional designer, he pays close attention to structure and pacing, which helps writers and content creators who are new to AI as well as those who already use it. Jyoti Chopra is a design professional and ACLP trainer with strengths in graphics, sketching, Adobe Photoshop and 3D visualisation. She has taught WSQ and professional courses in AutoCAD, graphic design and 3D modelling, taught AutoCAD, 3ds Max and Revit at a recognised teaching institute, and is an Autodesk Certified Professional (AutoCAD). Her industry experience as an Architectural Designer on residential and landscape projects in Singapore, together with project work in digital prototyping and visualisation, grounds her teaching in real-world practice and portfolio-ready outputs.

In Generative AI for Script Development and Storytelling, Jyoti brings her visual design and sketching background to the creative process. Learners use generative AI to develop scripts and craft engaging narratives, then move into AI-assisted storyboarding, visual design and video creation, where her experience in graphics and visualisation helps them shape scenes that look as strong as they read. The course closes with script refinement, responsible AI use and managing copyright risk. Participants leave able to take a story from concept to finished multimedia content for media, advertising, education or entertainment, with sound judgement about where AI helps and where human creativity leads.
