Dr. Alfred Ang approaches career coaching as an adult educator who also builds AI tools for people development. He holds a Graduate Certificate in Workplace Learning (GCWPL) from IAL, is a certified workplace learning consultant and an Associate Adult Educator with IAL, and is an ACTA-certified trainer and DACE-certified curriculum developer. As founder of Tertiary Courses and Managing Director, CIO, CTO and Chief Instructional Designer of Tertiary Infotech Academy Pte Ltd, he leads teams of curriculum developers and facilitators dedicated to upskilling people to stay relevant in a rapidly changing world. On the technical side he is a full-stack AI developer and Agentic AI solution architect with Microsoft Certified AI Engineer Associate (AI-102) and Data Scientist (DP-100) credentials and a Certificate in AI Ethics and Governance (Senior Professional) from NTU, and he holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from NUS. Several of his GitHub projects sit squarely in this course's territory. AIInterviewing lets job seekers practise interviews with an AI hiring manager across six roles, each scored on its own rubric with STAR-based improvement tips. hr-recruitment generates candidate-tailored interview questions and analyses how well a CV matches a job description. AICoaching is a coaching simulator for redesigning jobs around accountable AI-agent ownership, and workplacelearning is a website for workplace learning, AI transformation and job redesign. Together they show how he has applied AI to the very conversations career coaches have every day.
In AI for Career Coaching, Dr. Ang equips career coaches, HR and talent development professionals, people managers and educators to guide others more effectively with AI at their side. The course starts with career development principles, including career theories, career stages, motivation and the role of the coach, and shows where AI can support each stage. Learners then assess employee competencies, using AI to analyse skills and experience, map them against role requirements and identify development gaps. The career management topic uses AI to research pathways and labour market trends and to draft personalised development plans, while the final topic on supporting career plan implementation covers follow-up, progress reviews and coaching materials that keep plans moving. Drawing on his interview-practice and CV-matching tools, he demonstrates how AI can prepare a coach before a session and give a coachee realistic practice afterwards, freeing more time for the human conversation. He is equally clear about the limits: AI suggestions must be checked for bias and accuracy, personal data must be handled with care, and final judgement about a person's career always rests with people. Sessions are practical and discussion-based, with learners working through realistic coaching cases and building reusable prompts and templates for their own practice. Learners also practise using AI to prepare structured coaching conversations and summarise outcomes, while keeping sensitive notes secure. Dwight Nuwan Fonseka is an educator and data professional. He holds a Masters in Education from NTU and spent eight years teaching biology at O Level, A Level and IB level in international schools in Singapore and overseas. He is also Head of Data Science at Plano Pte. Ltd. and an ACLP-certified trainer, with deep expertise in data analytics, machine learning and AI applications. His professional background spans healthcare, finance and customer analytics, and he brings an applied perspective to AI that considers both the opportunities and the risks of emerging technologies.
In AI for Career Coaching, Dwight draws on his education background and his years of guiding learners, together with his practical understanding of how AI tools work. He takes participants through career development principles, assessing employee competencies, career management and supporting the implementation of career plans, showing where generative AI can help analyse skills and experience, research career pathways and labour market trends, and draft personalised development plans. He stresses that AI should support, not replace, the coach's judgement and the human conversation. Coaches, HR professionals and managers leave better equipped to deliver well-prepared, personalised career guidance more efficiently.
Dr. Alvin Ang is an ACTA-certified trainer whose expertise lies in real-world data science. He completed his PhD, master's and bachelor's degrees at NTU, Singapore, and although he is an operational researcher by study, his passion for practical applications outweighs his academic background. His career includes roles as a Principal Consultant in data science and as an Assistant Professor, and he spent eight years as an adjunct lecturer at SUSS. He also owns a startup, giving him first-hand experience of how data and technology are applied in a business setting.
In AI for Career Coaching, Dr. Ang brings his data science background and long experience guiding adult learners to coaches, HR professionals and managers who want to use AI-enabled tools in career development. Learners cover career development principles, assess employee competencies, explore career management, and support the implementation of career plans. Along the way, they see how generative AI can help analyse skills and experience, research career pathways and labour market trends, and draft development plans. His practical, data-informed approach encourages participants to treat AI output as evidence to be checked rather than an answer to accept, so they can give individuals better-grounded, more personalised career guidance.
