Any unused balance of the current SFEC expires on 30 November 2026.
Redesigned SFEC from 1 December 2026
Companies with at least 3 resident employees receive a fresh $10,000 in an online SFEC wallet that offsets out-of-pocket fees upfront at enrolment, instead of reimbursing them afterwards. SWDA has not yet published the support rates and claim steps; see OurWorkforce or our SFEC guide.

- NTUC usually pays the claim within 4 weeks of submission.
Read more in our UTAP guide.
Appeal Process
If you disagree with an assessment decision, you have the right to appeal.
- When the assessor gives you feedback, say whether you agree with the outcome. If you agree, you and the assessor sign the Assessment Summary Record; if you disagree, do not sign it.
- Discuss the decision with the assessor or the assessment manager first.
- If you are still not satisfied, tell the assessor you intend to appeal. The assessor records this in the feedback section of the Assessment Summary Record and informs the assessment manager.
- Lodge your appeal within 7 days, giving your reasons, using the Candidate Appeal Form. The assessor can help you write and lodge it.
- An Assessment Appeal Panel reviews the information from you and the assessor and makes a decision. A record of the appeal and its outcome is kept.
- You will be told the outcome within 2 weeks of lodging the appeal. The panel's decision is final.

Mr Tan Woei Ming brings together engineering, data science and automation, the three disciplines that turn IoT from a technology trend into a business advantage. He holds First-Class Honours in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from NTU and a Master of Intelligent Systems from NUS. At Micron Technology, he worked as a Data Scientist and later Data Science Lead, leading AI initiatives in predictive analytics, automation and process optimisation in the semiconductor and manufacturing industries, the kind of data-driven operational improvement that Industry 4.0 promises. He now works at Tertiary Infotech as an Instructor, Software Developer and Agentic Automation specialist, is the trainer for Tertiary Courses' Arduino and IoT courses, and is an ACLP-certified trainer who is at ease explaining technical ideas to business audiences. He therefore views IoT through both a technical and an operational lens.
This CASL course helps learners see how IoT can reshape business models, improve operations and generate actionable insight. Mr Tan begins with Industry 4.0 and IoT, the new business models connected devices make possible, and the sensors, actuators and wireless technologies behind them. Learners then examine opportunities in agriculture, autonomous vehicles, fleet tracking, smart buildings, healthcare and wearables, and drones. The technology topic shows how data is posted to a cloud server, analysed, visualised and acted upon, before the course turns to adoption challenges, IoT security and cost-benefit analysis, and finally to the success factors and design thinking approach behind a sound implementation. Mr Tan's experience with predictive analytics and process optimisation helps learners connect device data to business outcomes, and he encourages each participant to leave with an IoT innovation idea for their own organisation that is grounded in what the technology can realistically deliver.
Shawn Koh is an ACTA-certified trainer, entrepreneur and IoT project director with more than 25 years of experience in software development, project management and system integration. Through his company I.O.T. Workz, he builds IoT smart solutions, and as a Smart Nation ambassador and guest speaker he has been actively involved in promoting IoT innovations for schools, enterprises and government-linked projects. A former Vice President at Singapore Exchange and solution architect at ST Electronics, he has delivered large-scale mission-critical systems before turning to IoT.
In CASL Business Innovation with Internet-of-Things (IoT), Shawn guides learners through practical applications of IoT for business transformation. Participants explore Industry 4.0 and the new business models IoT makes possible, the sensors, actuators and wireless technologies involved, and use cases across agriculture, autonomous vehicles, fleet tracking, smart buildings, healthcare and wearables, and drones, before getting hands-on with cloud computing for IoT. His sessions cover sensor integration, IoT platform deployment and real-world cases such as smart homes, IoT farming simulators and enterprise automation. Combining technical depth with leadership experience, he equips participants to design and implement IoT-driven innovations that improve efficiency, transparency and customer experience.
Fritz Lim is an ACTA-certified trainer and software developer whose IoT projects include automation systems built with Arduino and Raspberry Pi, alongside web and mobile applications integrated with cloud services. A graduate in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from NTU, he has more than 15 years of teaching experience in IT, coding and IoT applications. He has taught across polytechnics, academies and training organisations in areas such as web development, Python, JavaScript and IoT fundamentals.
In CASL - Business Innovation with Internet-of-Things (IoT), Fritz brings his hands-on prototyping experience to a business audience. He covers IoT architecture, sensor integration and cloud-based analytics, explaining Industry 4.0, the new business models IoT enables, sensors and actuators and wireless communication technologies. Learners then explore opportunities across agriculture, autonomous vehicles, fleet tracking, smart buildings, healthcare and wearable devices, and drones. Participants examine each use case for the data it generates and the value it can create for an organisation. Because he has built IoT systems himself, he helps participants judge what is practical to deploy. Fritz's learner-centred style helps them see IoT as a powerful enabler of business innovation and digital transformation.
Richard Wan is an ACLP-certified lecturer with over 40 years of experience in IoT, embedded systems, computer vision and AI development. A government scholar, he holds a Master's in Computer Vision and a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He has co-founded several high-tech companies, including SGX-listed Mediaring Ltd and E-Book Systems, and has led R&D projects at Singapore's National Computer Board and in private enterprises. He delivers IoT innovation courses with a focus on embedded systems, connectivity and real-world applications.
In CASL Business Innovation with Internet-of-Things (IoT), Richard combines his technical depth with an entrepreneur's view of new business models. Learners explore Industry 4.0, IoT-driven business models, sensors, actuators and wireless technologies, then examine opportunities across agriculture, autonomous vehicles, fleet tracking, smart buildings, healthcare and wearables, and drones. They also get hands-on with IoT technology, including cloud computing for IoT and device integration on platforms such as Arduino and Raspberry Pi, paired with analytics that support decision-making. Participants leave with the conceptual understanding and practical know-how to drive IoT-enabled innovation in their organisation.
