Basic Python Training for Beginners

This course aims to teach beginners the basics of Python programming. We cover all the basics of Python programming including data types, control structures, functions, import modules and packages . The course has no pre-requisites and avoids all but the simplest mathematics. Anyone with moderate computer experience should be able to learn the basic of Python programming.

Trainers

Python TrainerWee Chee Hong is a veteran consultant in the field of Engineering Design. He has over 20 years experience in electronics/ IT industry with several MNCs including Compaq, Adaptec, Agilent, etc., with specialization in Automation System Design (drilling/ milling machine, 3D machine automation, machine data collection, test & measurement electronics design), Motion control design & applications. With wide technical skill set in development language/ tools .Net, Java, PowerBuilder to C++/ C/C#, he has also strong knowledge in development of firmware for microcontroller such as PIC, ARM and others.

Chee Hong graduated with a B.Eng degree in Electrical Electronics Engineering and holds a Master Degree of Technology from NUS.

Python TrainerLim Cheng Chong developed a strong passion for computing at a young age, self-training in areas such as programming and computer graphics from as early as age 10. Throughout the years, he has gained a wealth of experience in learning technology efficiently, and has applied his knowledge in training at schools and universities. Cheng Chong possesses a bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the National University of Singapore, has over 7 years of online education experience via his highly praised YouTube channel, and 4 years of offline experience through coaching, peer mentoring and conducting classes and labs at NUS.

His current interests include Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Robotics and Programming.

Dr. Alfred Ang was Distinguished Toastmasters (DTM) and Senior Member of IEEE. He has published more than 20 peer reviewed papers and co-inventors for more than 20 inventions.

Python TrainerLisa Lee has her degree in Finance at the Illinois Institute of Technology. Prior to returning to Singapore, she worked as a financial analyst in a US-start up that sells business intelligence to dental offices. She was on the winning team for the Chicago Quantitative Alliance (CQA) Investment Challenge in 2015.Her core specialisation skills are R, Python, Machine Learning, Statistical Analysis, and Data Visualisation in Tableau and Qliksense. She currently works as a Data Science Instructor at a local university.

Python TrainerDr. Asankhaya Sharma is a cyber security expert and technology leader with over a decade of experience in creating security products for industry, academia and open-source community. He is passionate about building high performing teams and taking innovative products to market. He is also an Adjunct Professor at the Singapore Institute of Technology.

He lead the R&D function at SourceClear. SourceClear is a software security startup that is focussed on building security tools for software developers. Before that, he was a PhD student affiliated with the Programming Languages and Systems Lab at School of Computing, NUS. His doctoral thesis was on Certified Reasoning for Automated Verification. At NUS, he co-founded Okyasoft and PyData Singapore.

Prior to starting my graduate studies he worked at Microsoft. he was involved in the development of SQL Server 2008 and Visual Studio 2010. He was part of the MSIT Accelerated Professional Experiences program (APEX).

Python TrainerDr. Yongxin (Steve) has more than five years of solid industrial and research experiences in data analytics. He held PhD on operations research in National University of Singapore. After his Phd study, he worked as data analyst and scientist in manufacturing and commodity trading companies. He is specialized in analyzing, visualizing and mining complex time series data using Python tools sucha as Pandas, Numpy, Matplotlib, SK-Learn, Tensorflow etc. He did research on predictive analytics on various systems e.g., Forex and commodity trading, system performance prediction, machine maintenance, etc. Besides data analytics using Python, he also extended his expertise in Microsoft Excel VBA, Hadoop big data platforms such as AWS and Microsoft Azure. In addition, he is strong in mathematical modelling and has cross-disciplinary domain knowledge in operations research, currency and commodity trading and industrial automation.

Python TrainerDr Brandon Ooi has a Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering and a PhD in Bioengineering from the National University of Singapore. He has published papers on machine learning, bioinformatics and microarray data analysis. He has six years of teaching experience at the polytechnic level and was also involved in the creation and teaching of modules for adult learners.

Python TrainerDr. Sarita Singh received her Ph.D. degree for her work done in the area of Information Security. She is the recipient of the prestigious Infosys fellowship for pursuing her Ph.D. Programme. She has more than twenty-five years of teaching and research experience in Singapore, Malaysia and India in the field of Programming, Information Security, Web-application Development, Computer Networks and Engineering related modules.

She has presented papers at several National and International Conferences and has written articles for magazines. She has authored text-books for Engineering courses as well.

Robotics Python TrainerAng Ming Liang is an up-and-coming developer with expertise ranging from deep learning to hardware like the raspberry pi. He specialises mostly in the area of data science and machine learning and has won several hackathons and is ranked highly in international competitions. Furthermore, he has also done projects as part of the maker community in Singapore and build his own 3D printer as well

Python TrainerYu Jin is a passionate Information Systems undergraduate in SMU possessing a myriad of skills from the IT industry. Python TrainerAriff is a recent Graduate from Murdoch University in BSc in Business Information System and Management (Double Major).
