What's This Course About

Master motion graphics and visual effects from the ground up in this hands-on 1-day Adobe After Effects Masterclass. After Effects is the industry-standard tool for motion design, compositing and visual effects, trusted across film, advertising, social media and broadcast production. Starting from the After Effects interface, you will learn to set up workspaces and projects, prepare and import media files, and build compositions with pre-compositing—laying the foundation of a professional motion-graphics workflow.

The masterclass then moves into the core skills that bring your projects to life: working with layers, animating with keyframes, and applying effects to create polished, eye-catching motion graphics. You will finish by rendering your compositions, converting movies and exporting videos in the right formats for delivery. By the end of the course, you will be able to confidently create, animate and export professional-quality video projects in After Effects.

Sophia Novita was a lecturer for 4 years in Visual Communication Design before she moved to Singapore. As an enthusiast for education, aside from her full-time job, she puts aside her time to teach. Her skill sets are ranging from Adobe Software such as Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign and Adobe Premiere Pro, to the word processor as well as Web Development.

Leong Jin Jie is a ACTA certified trainer. Leong Jin Jie graduated from Temasek Polytechnic in 2016 with a Diploma (Merit) in Visual Communication amongst the top three students in his cohort. A quirky creative with a passion for graphic design, Jin Jie considers design a basic process of problem-solving--as such, his work seeks to seamlessly marry form and function, aesthetics and practicality. He also believes that a good designer is a flexible one. To that end, Jin Jie has made a conscious effort to diversify his design repertoire and is proficient with various design fields, including illustration, branding, and motion graphics/
To date, Jin Jie has extensive professional experience in the Corporate Branding and Market Design industry, having worked at dedicated design cooperatives Marker Lab @ Google, Studio in Tandem, and Factory 1611, where his projects helped facilitate the conceptual development and branding of clients such as the National Art Gallery, Changi Airport Group, and Nanyang Technological University. Jin Jie is currently looking for opportunities to further this passion in the Graphic Design field. He looks up to established designer Saul Bass and hopes one day to found a design firm that is competitive, unique, economises purposeful design, and gives back to society.

Probably we need to lengthen the duration of the course since our instructor overshot. This is fully understandable because there are many aspects to be covered and given that the participants are beginners they might not catch up as fast as what is being instructed.

Overall even though we were left with 2 more modules and Cinema 4D to be covered but I feel I actually 'leveled up' and has more in depth knowledge of how everything works in AE. I think the exercises provided by the instructor is also very relevant. Really awesome. Can't wait to redo and complete them on my own for self practice. I think the pace of the course is also just right for me, not too slow and not too fast. Probably because I already had a solid background in Flash/Animate and Premiere plus some previous experience in 3D Max and AE seems very much like a mix of all three, so everything seems very straightforward and easy to grasp (Posted on 3/29/2017)

The course was very interesting but they were many modules to be covered and one day training could be too short. If possible, make the course to 2-day training instead. (Posted on 3/28/2017)
