Jim Gan Chiu Liang is an experienced software developer and data automation specialist with over 15 years of experience in designing and implementing Microsoft Excel VBA solutions for business process optimization. His expertise lies in developing automated workflows, interactive dashboards, and complex financial models that reduce manual workload and improve data accuracy. Jim has worked with organizations across finance, logistics, and education sectors, helping them leverage Excel’s advanced programming capabilities to drive efficiency and decision-making.

Dr. Alvin Ang is a ACTA certified trainer. Dr. Alvin Ang did his Ph.D., Masters and Bachelors from NTU, Singapore. Previously he was a Principal Consultant (Data Science) as well as an Assistant Professor. He was also 8 years SUSS adjunct lecturer. His focus and interest is in the area of real world data science. Though an operational researcher by study, his passion for practical applications outweigh his academic background. He owns a startup externally.

Liew Sing Loon is a ACTA certified trainer. Liew Sing Loon graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 1992 with a Second Upper Honors Degree in Electrical Engineering. He started his career as an Electronic Product Design Engineer for four years in a Multinational Company which sell the products worldwide. The job provided him practical knowledge in various aspects of manufacturing operations ranges from Design, Quality, Production and Procurement. He then spent fifteen years in Information Technology Sector as a Key Account Manager in selling IT solutions to Banking, Telecommunications and Government clients. The job provided him the opportunities to propose IT solutions, integrating software, hardware and services, to solve customers’ problems to achieve their strategic business objectives. He joint a German Product Test company to develop its business in providing product Safety, Immunity, Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Certification test. While working in the industry, Liew Sing Loon obtained a Master of Science (MSc) in Technology Management from NUS.
In the last decade, Liew Sing Loon has been Adjunct Lecturer in several Institutes of high learning, transferring his knowledge on Quantitative & Statistical Analysis, Operations, Project & Quality Management to learners ranging from Diploma, full time undergraduates and working adults.Liew Sing Loon has a Certificate of Completion in Education Psychology Course and Teaching & Learning in Higher Education Program conducted by National Institute of Education (NIE).

Perhaps have more examples to practice on, and also an instructional summary document of what we did with examples i.e. what to use, where to find the appropriate tool

Dont mind starting earlier so we dont have to rush towards the end. It was only the 3 of us but the time extended only from a few questions. (Posted on 6/24/2019)

Course info states no prerequisites required to attend. I think there should be as the topics covered go beyond basic level for both statistics & knowledge of Excel.


To increase training time to maybe 1 & half days where half a day could be spent going through the basic & intermediate excel functions before embarking on the various modules later.

Classroom can be more conducive, in the sense that the doors can be stronger to block out external noises.

Tutor was good, but would be good to inform participants to have some basic knowledge of statistics, as it might be difficult for them to follow as there are many modules (Posted on 1/29/2019)
