The instructor was knowledgeable about the subject matter and was mostly able to explain the concepts though some concepts took longer because of the lack of proper images for demonstration. When asked, he freely shared related ideas and info that was outside of the syllabus and that were helpful for me.1. Do you find the course meet your expectation? 2. However, instructor should be careful about making comments like ‘hah, I told you this morning you forgot already?’ And this should not be a joke too. A basic pedagogical principle: a person needs to hear something at least 21 to 28 times before they internalize it, so comments like that should never be made to anyone learning something. It discourages students from asking further questions. It discourages learning. Especially in the face of the missing elements that didn’t allow students to have hands on practice of what was taught.
The classroom should have been set up before the class starts. The instructor took half hour to unsuccessfully set up the big screen even with admin help. In the end, he sat next to me and used my computer to instruct…this is not ideal as I am then not able to use my computer to practice. It was only after lunch that the screen got set up.
The images that were meant for students to practice each component were not there - we wasted lots of time trying to find suitable images on my and the instructor’s computer to practice. The instructor apologized a few times that he has his own images that he could use to show me but they were on his hard drive and he left it at home. No use for the class though. Whatever images that were to be used for instruction should have been given to students. Wasted lots of time and I didn’t get to do enough hands on practice.
Some images on my computer were totally not suitable to demonstrate a particular function of photoshop making it harder to grasp and understand the purpose of the function!
