Internet of Things (IoT) devices are becoming part of a smart city infrastructure that can combat the strain of city growth, from traffic control to environmental issues. Recently, the Raspberry Pi Foundation launched a new IoT device, the Raspberry Pi Zero W which extends the Raspberry Pi Zero family and comes with added wireless LAN and Bluetooth connectivity

In this course, the participant will learn to program Raspberry Pi Zero W using Node-Red for IoT applications.

Raspberry PI Zero W TrainerWee Chee Hong is a veteran consultant in the field of Engineering Design. He has over 20 years experience in electronics/ IT industry with several MNCs including Compaq, Adaptec, Agilent, etc., with specialization in Automation System Design (drilling/ milling machine, 3D machine automation, machine data collection, test & measurement electronics design), Motion control design & applications. With wide technical skill set in development language/ tools .Net, Java, PowerBuilder to C++/ C/C#, he has also strong knowledge in development of firmware for microcontroller such as PIC, ARM and others.

Chee Hong graduated with a B.Eng degree in Electrical Electronics Engineering and holds a Master Degree of Technology from NUS.

The board used for the course, Raspberry Pi Zero W, is slow to respond during our hands-on lab. Suggest to use perhaps a slightly higher end board eg. Raspberry PI 3, to improve the practical lab experience in the future.

I like to thank the Trainer Ken for conducting the IOT course. He has helped me understand more about IOT and the Raspberry PI hardware, despite the time constraint. Good work and keep it up :) (Posted on 8/26/2019)
