Module 1: Setting Up Web and Email Servers

Module 2: Sensing Data with Sensors

  • Overview of Sensehat
  • Sensing Pressure,Temperature and Humidity with Sensehat
  • Challenge: Sending Sensehat data to Email
  • Sensing Distance with Ultrasonics Sensor

Module 3: Controlling Components

  • Controlling DC Motor
  • Challenge: Control DC Motor with Distance Sensing

Module 4: Displaying Data

  • Setup LCD Display
  • Show User Input on LCD
  • Challenge: Display Distance Data on LCD
  • Data Visualization with ThinkSpeak IoT Platform

Raspberry PI TrainerWee Chee Hong is a veteran consultant in the field of Engineering Design. He has over 20 years experience in electronics/ IT industry with several MNCs including Compaq, Adaptec, Agilent, etc., with specialization in Automation System Design (drilling/ milling machine, 3D machine automation, machine data collection, test & measurement electronics design), Motion control design & applications. With wide technical skill set in development language/ tools .Net, Java, PowerBuilder to C++/ C/C#, he has also strong knowledge in development of firmware for microcontroller such as PIC, ARM and others.

Chee Hong graduated with a B.Eng degree in Electrical Electronics Engineering and holds a Master Degree of Technology from NUS.

Raspberry Pi TrainerRichard Wan has more than 30 years of experience in software development in various computer disciplines, including computer vision, communication and digital publishing. Technical expertise includes: Windows, Linux developments with C, C++, Delphi (Object Pascal), Visual Studio, OpenCV. Embedded system programming including microcontrollers, Arduino, Pi, BeagleBone etc.

Raspberry Pi Trainer

Ms Eve Tan has been in 3D industry for 3 years and She is also one and only Asian modulator in Josef Prusa facebook support team.

She is also a graduate ACTA trainers in Singapore IAL institute and currently conducting 3D Printing and scanning for Skill future and WDA course.. She have graduate from ACC Institute of Human Services obtain Psychology Counselling, Singapore Polytechnic in CEO, she also ongoing her part-time upgrading on Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology in Post-Graduate Programs, she is keen on learning and upgrading herself during her spare time.

She has been doing all support and teaching to all buyer which they have purchase Prusa MK2.

She also created her own 3D Home Desk Machine which is easy to fix and user friendly and with special feature of Non Break printing module in her own 3D printer.

She is proficient in :

Arduino TrainerKen Yuen has more than 10 years of experience working as an instructor, Application Development Engineer, Technical Consultant and Project Manager. He is an MOE-Registered Instructor teaching STEM programs for past 3 years such as Arduino, Micro:bits and robotics to schools and libraries based on the smart nation initiative roadmap.

He completed his Diploma in Electronic Engineering at Singapore Polytechnic and graduated with Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Nanyang Technological University and certified PMP (Project Management Professional).

Robotics Python TrainerMing Liang is an up-and-coming developer with expertise ranging from deep learning to hardware like the raspberry pi. He specialises mostly in the area of data science and machine learning and has won several hackathons and is ranked highly in international competitions. Furthermore, he has also done projects as part of the maker community in Singapore and build his own 3D printer as well

Classroom teaching environment and learning tools/resources.

Course participants had earlier informed course administrator of their requirements for course-related tools such as the Raspberry Pi starter kit and laptops for in-class hands-on tasks. However, despite the requests being made via email, the tools were not prepared in advance and thus time was spent on such administrative matters during the actual training. (Posted on 9/5/2018)

Could you please check the wiring of the motor driver and the DC motor, they were of the wrong wire type, It should be a male to male wire instead of a male to female wire for the DC motor. Also, the soldering of the wires to the DC motor driver were poorly done. I had to borrow the trainer's motor driver and motor to follow the course lessons. Also, the connector for the Raspberry Pi Sense Hat is quite loose, the moment i have to disconnect it with the GPIO pins from the Raspberry Pi, The Sense Hat board came off, leaving the connector on the Raspberry Pi GPIO pins itself. I had to redo the soldering for the motor driver and the Dc motor again just to get it connected easily. One comment on the leads of the resistors, they are too thin for them to be placed into the breadboard which required a bit of force from me to get the resistors to have a good connection on the breadboard.
